MEGADETH frontman Dave Mustaine has checked in with the following update:

"Droogies and Rattleheads!

Well, I made it back safe from Maui! After a couple trips to Bubba Gump's Shrimp House, an amazing night at Roy's Asian Restaurant, an ATV trip, a horseback ride, and snorkling at Molokini and Lanai, I have to say that this time was fan-f*cking-tastic!

And except for the red dirt that is still coming out of my lungs from the ATV ride, I had one of the best times that I have ever had going to Hawai'i. I want to thank each and every one of you for making it possible for me to go to the islands, and just know that my batteries are charged and I am ready to rip on this next new Megadeth project.

I did see something funny while shopping in a Organic Health Food Store in Paia, Maui. It said that STYX are going to be playing in Maui. And it reminded me of the worst review I have ever seen a band get: it was in a Canadian newspaper, and it was a one-word review. It said, 'Styx, stinks.' And that was the whole review. Pretty harsh, huh?

I always thought that Tommy Shaw was cool, and I DUG the guitar tone that he had in the song 'Renegade'. I actually talked to the drummer in Styx that died back when he was still alive, although he was already dying from addiction. I really disliked seeing that, because this was a band that I had gone to see in concert when they did the Paradise Theater tour.

Moving on. The Megadeth guys are angry and I would say primed and ready for a full-sonic assault. Now that James and Shawn have already recorded with me once before, we are going to be even tighter and faster AND heavier in the studio. Andy Sneap comes in tomorrow night and I may drive up to LAX to pick him up, so that I know he won't get kidnapped by one of the teeny labels on the way down to San Diego.

Remember that I have been working and have been dictating my memoirs as I mentioned last week, and I have been leaving a lot of messages at TheLiveLine too, and I want to say a big 'thank you' for the messages and also thanks for the widget messages. I am going to sign off for now, because I am going over tons of sh*t in the studio with Shane 'Mr. Justice' McConnell and I can't type and pay attention to the set-up here AND try not to rock out listening to the new riffs that I am having uploaded into my rig for us to consider.

Its gonna be a great weekend.
