WWIII Frontman MANDY LION - "Neither I Nor Anyone Else In This Business Would Be Anything Unless The Fans Make Us Into Someone; Hear That Axl..?"

Posted on Wednesday, April 02, 2008 at 02:39:27 EST

WWIII frontman Mandy Lion has issued a new Q&A session featuring answers to questions posed by his fans. It appears below.

1) Who is playing on the new single 'Kiss'?

ML: "The song was done by Micky James and I. There was no band involved in the process of making this song happen. In all of my years in this business I have never worked with anyone like Micky. The man has this authenticity which one cannot find anymore these days. He is all about the song instead of musically masturbating which is all too common these days. Just wait until you hear some of the stuff Micky and I are doing in the near future. He is just a great person and an awesome talent."

Q: In three words how would you describe some of the people you have worked with in the past and present?

ML:
-- Jake E. Lee: "Genius, performer, honest."
-- George Lynch: "Composer, virtuoso, witty."
-- Vinnie Appice: "Talented, driven, strong."
-- Mikkey Dee: "Power, finesse, real."
-- James Kottak: "Energy, ferocity, friend."
-- Jimmy Bain: "Best, Bass, EVER."
-- Moni: "Talent, Talent, Talent."
-- Ray Lucier: "(Amazing) Gun, for, hire."
-- Micky James: "The, Fucking, Best!"

Q: Every time you do anything you seem to divide the fans like no other vocalist. People either love you like crazy or they hate you completely. How do you feel about that?

ML: "I would not have it any other way. With over 10,000,000 visitors on my three pages, 5 million song plays, half a million song plays on the MySpace music profile alone and a seven figure family of extremely encouraging fans and friends, why would I worry about 5, or 10 people talking shit? For every bad reaction I get thousands of good reactions so I never sweat the couple of web sites where 'keyboard warriors' leave their ever so important opinions. This is the beauty of the internet; every failed musician and wannabe gets to write a few derogatory sentences about people who are actually doing something. I think it is a beautiful and therapeutic thing. It's better these people get to spew some venom at someone who could not care less than them ending up in the news doing a McDonald's shooting out of frustration at their failed lives.

If you love what I do I am pleased and honored. There are not many of us who are lucky enough to be able to do what I do and make a living at it. I owe ALL of that to the fans. I cannot begin to tell you how thankful I am to have these great people on my side. I have said it before and I will say it here again. The fans are the ONLY thing that matters in music. Neither I nor anyone else in this business would be anything unless the fans make us into someone. Anyone that does not get that should stop right now. Hear that Axl...?

And those who hate me, I want to thank them as well because anyone who takes time out of their day to express their hate toward me is living proof to me and the world that I am doing something right. If someone has no reaction at all that is bad but if someone hates you so much they cannot help but bad mouth you every chance they get then you have gotten to them. I guarantee you that they will get all worked up over what I am saying right now... THAT is how easily their little minds can be manipulated.

I have some fans that sometimes send me the better digs at me. Some of them had me laughing so hard I was almost in tears. They are funny in the same way the American Idol auditions are. They have NO idea they are making asses out of themselves and THAT is hilarious! It is like some mystical power forces them to click on my name when they see it on a web site. Then this irresistible force makes them click on my music and download it. Then they are being forced to listen to my music. Then they are screaming about how much they hated the experience only to be going through the same process again the next time they see my name somewhere... ??? What horrible torture this must be to search, find, download and listen to a song which you did not want to listen to... They say they don't want to hear my music... BUT they listen! Otherwise how would they be able to have an opinion on it...??? They find, download and watch my videos and then they slam them... BUT they watch them! They say I am nobody... But THEY are talking about me! I think it is hilarious!

Nobody is making anyone go on a site, click on a video or song of mine and download it to get their panties in a bunch. You don't see me in front of their house blasting my music at them... They LOOK for it. They are going through a whole lot of trouble in order to try and slam what I do. Strange... But if I don't like an artist I manage to avoid seeing or hearing them by not downloading their music, not going to their site, not clicking on their name and not watching their videos... Effortlessly! Why is it that they haven't figured that out yet? You gotta love these goofy bastards."

Q: Is this collaboration with your new producer a one time deal?

ML: "Hell no! Micky James is the man! He is talent on legs, a true friend and an absolute gentleman. I don't hold back on what I think about people if I am asked good or bad but I can say nothing but great things about this guy. I am looking forward to many more collaborations."

Q: Joe Elliot (DEF LEPPARD said that your 'Love You To Death' is the heaviest song ever written and one of his personal favorites. How do you feel about that?

ML: "I am completely and utterly honored. There are few artists who have written as many great songs as that man and his band. For him to say that means a lot to me. I might have to call him and thank him in person now. Wow. I think I just grew another inch... In height that is..."
