As reported earlier today, Swedish death metal "supergroup" BLOODBATH revealed that the vocalist on their new mini-CD is none other than OPETH's Mikael Åkerfeldt. The Bloodbath 2008 lineup: Mikael Åkerfeldt (vocals), Anders "Blakkheim" Nyström (guitar), Per "Sodomizer" Eriksson (guitar), Jonas Renkse (bass), Martin "Axe" Axenrot (drums).

Meanwhile, Opeth have added to the news: "If pure death is your thing then maybe this is a happy day for you. Mikael Åkerfeldt has returned to the vocal position in Bloodbath. It's been kept secret since the summer of 2007 when Mike was asked to record vocals for four new tracks destined to be released as the Unblessing Of Purity EP. Also, the now legendary Wacken 2005 appearance DVD will come out in a near future through Peaceville Records. On top of this, there are plans to record another full length record which will be the third since the band was formed in 1999. This will possibly be recorded during 2008."
