TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA violinist Anna Phoebe has checked in with the following update:
Colorado Springs x 2 and Denver
"What a week! Had a GLORIOUS couple of days off - absolute bliss!! Went to a couple of great sushi places near Cherry Creek district in Denver...Tazu and Hapa - both YUMMY. Except I stupidly ate some raw clam (it just looked SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good!!!!!!!!!!) and surprise!surprise! woke up the day of TWO shows being sick. Serves me right. No sympathy required.
Felt really crazy doing matinee show on a WEDNESDAY!!!! But both audiences were fantastic, especially the evening performance! We definitely all felt the altitude (something like 6,000 feet above sea level??) and I definitely felt it running around the stage and the arena! I thought I was about to pass out at one stage! We had an oxygen tank side of stage which was helpful! :) I was SOOO impressed with all the singers - especially Kristen who ran around the arena hitting all those super high notes for 'Queen Of The Winter Night' - AMAZING! I'm sure she held that long high note even LONGER than usual!! Kristen ROCKS!!! We weren't the only ones feeling the altitude - the trusses with the moving lights were dripping oil onto the stage- something about the air pressure affecting it in some way.
SO - for all those of you who happened to be at the evening show and saw Angus fall - he is A-OK. I think he has a bruised butt and there is a huge chunk of wood now missing from one of the tips of his white Flying V, but other than that, all is good! I just saw him go down as we were running through the arena during the encore trying to get back to stage before the end of the song, and WHAM! - he slipped and fell HARD on his back!! As I ran up the steps centre stage I saw him lying on there - with the HUGEST grin on his face - and I just couldn't stop laughing....half out of complete nervousness, and then when I saw him get up and he was OK, I just couldn't stop laughing because it just looked so hilarious and cartoon-like!! But it DEFINITELY makes me nervous about running around! By the end of the show there's snow, soda, chips, arms and legs in the aisles - and when you have a spotlight on you, you really can't see anything!
Last night was the Denver show - the altitude felt a whole lot better! And the crowd was 12,000 people - SOOOO many bodies under one roof!! OOH - I have to say a big thank you to Robert and the people at the Apple store who helped me out with my new computer - thank you! And thanks to people who brought my Gypsy CD - and thank you for the advent calendars!!!"
Love,
Anna xxx
