Former SKID ROW / SAIGON KICK drummer Phil Varone has issued the following blog via Facebook:
"Once again, I find myself getting offended by NBC news and specifically The Today Show.
I as many people have been sadden by the news of Jett Travolta passing away. As a father of two beautiful children, I can only imagine the pain of losing a child. A parent should never have to bury a child, but as we see through life, it's out of our hands. When my Mother passed away 10 years ago, I saw my grandfather die from sadness. Even at 90 years old, he told me, you should never bury your child. I had to remember for a second that my Mother, was his child. No matter how old you are, the pain is the same.
This morning as I was watching the Today show, a report came on about Jett's passing . Instantly I felt the sadness of this tragic event, but soon it turned to anger. It's truly amazing that NBC news is trying to uncover some big secret of his death. Have they no shame? A child is dead. That's all that should matter. If people wonder why celebrities are so private like the Travolta's, just watch the news. How many of these reports must we see? How many of these offensive, glib reporters do we have to listen to? Shame on you Matt Lauer!! Your callous, uncaring banter is beyond offensive. Religious beliefs, what medicine, how many nanny's took care of the child is irrelevant. Hey Matt, you broke the story wide open by reporting Jett had two nannys!! Wow!!! You should be proud!! Edward R Murrow would be envious. A son died in his fathers arms !! Isn't that dramatic enough for you pathetic assholes. Have some fucking respect!!"
