TRANSIENT

Transient

I've always loved, and will always love, when bands take elements from grind and mix it up with slower, doom-ier genres. For example, blastbeats underneath a sludgey riff? It's one of the best sounds on Earth to these ears. Here, Portland heavies TRANSIENT do just that on 'False Philanthropy', one of 16 songs they drill through in 20 minutes on their debut. But that's about as "varied" as it gets here, as the rest mines familiar grind, d-beat, and crust turf, with 'Snoop Scion' stopping to smell the sludge flowers a bit, as well. The vocals are in that tried-and-true screaming "female vox" category that many crusty grind bands have perfected over the years (can't you just see those words in a white font on a black background, photocopied way too small? No? Uh, guess we had different upbringings), and it's all wrapped up in a package that contains a bass tone that's just Lilkerian enough to keep a smile on any banger's face.
