ALL PIGS MUST DIE

Nothing Violates This Nature

(Southern Lord)

Reviewed by : Greg Pratt
Rating : 8.0

No surprises here, this new one from hardcore/metal bruisers ALL PIGS MUST DIE operating in the same sonic and mental headspace that their debut did, a place where CONVERGE riffs are jammed out by a drunk Lemmy while he slowly caresses questionably private parts of members of HIS HERO IS GONE, who are passed out in the corner, just so exhausted at the prospect of another half hour of so much hate and rage. Here, it's filtered by way of blast beats ('Primitive Fear'), d-beat crust punk ('Holy Plague'), and sludge ('Bloodlines')... which more or less describes their debut, yes, and add in that unmistakable and amazing Kurt Ballou production sound, and you're left playing spot the difference between the two discs, a game that has never been as fun and sonically rewarding as it is when you're playing with a band like All Pigs Must Die, who could just re-release the same damn album every three years and I'd be happy, because it'd remind me not so much that bands like this exist on new songs or creative growth but on mind-numbing repetition of a particular strain of sonic extremity. Feel like you've heard this before? Just wallow in the filth, and enjoy.
