Third album from this band (do you have the first two or are you thinking of bands with similar names?) finds them throwing down an ENTOMBED-production-loving scuzzy drudge through raunchy death metal, either loving the mid-tempos or crawling through the sludge; they do both just fine, both bringing to mind Entombed's first couple, but the overall vibe being a bit more sewer-grade, a bit more AUTOPSY than DISMEMBER. Vocalist Vanessa Nocera also does time in ghastly faves HOWLING, and here she lays down a vocal performance that actually stands out a bit amongst the DM hordes, there being a bit more variety to the growling and screaming. Not sure the story behind closer 'The Flip-Side Of Satan', but it lays down a great piece of trad metal filtered through death sensibilities, an interesting and fun way to close off the album. Song titles like 'She-Wolf Of Devil's River' tell the tale of what kind of vibe is being sent across lyrically and visually, while taking a random two-minute sample of almost any tune on this album will give you an idea of the music here: it isn't brilliant but it is death metal done with no melodies, no wimpiness, no radio-ready choruses, no keyboards... which actually is brilliance when done right, which this most certainly is.
