Full-length three for this California-based technical death metal band, and, man, have they ever got things nailed to a fine-tooth point. The twists and turns are spot-on modern tech-death, the riffs all muted and tremolo picking and stutter start-stop, the drums stopping on dimes all over the place, the songs not even remotely memorable (of course, but what are you gonna do?). The production is suitably clean and precise, unemotional, unforgiving, and the music is all of those things, too. What, are you looking for some deeper insight to an album that sounds identical to every other album in this particular faction of technical death? There's none left to give in 2012: this stuff is excellent, top of the heap, and you know if you like it or not. On the off chance you've never heard technical death metal, I can think of no reason to not start right here. If you're a genre fan and you still feel like you need to buy new albums, I can think of no reason to not recommend this, because ARKAIK are on top of their game indeed, and that game takes tons of skill and is a completely enjoyable one to listen to.
