With dudes from 'core bruisers THE ACACIA STRAIN, BURY YOUR DEAD, and OCEANO, among others, in this band you know that SHUT IN know what they're doing. And on this debut EP, they prove they know exactly what the fuck they're doing, and if you don't like it they'll beat you the fuck down and keep on plowing through. I like 'Zero Kelvin' for its cool name, SNAPCASE-esque vocal flavour (nice touch) and relentless groove attack, but really, this whole EP is solid and powerful for those who like metalcore without the tech, like hardcore with a big metal sound but no actual metal sounds (and by that, I mean there are no IN FLAMES licks or inappropriate balls-in-vice screaming, but there is sheer sonic heaviness). Sure, you've heard this before, but if you need a quick, under-ten-minutes dose of heavy-as-hell hardcore energy to go with that first cup of coffee, I'd totally suggest this.
