Of all the blazes in the northern sky that have been wrathfully conceived in the last five years, Rage Nucléaire's debut, Unrelenting Fucking Hatred, is amongst the most incendiary of them all, this Montreal collective made up of Lord Worm (ex-CRYPTOPSY), Alvater (ex-FROZEN SHADOWS) and Dark Rage (ex-Cryptopsy) writing and executing a record that is, undeniably, by underground black metal connoisseurs, for underground black metal connoisseurs. In channeling, but not emulating, FROZEN SHADOWS, ANAAL NATHRAKH and PAYSAGE D'HIVER, Rage Nucléaire has taken a bold meta-level view of black metal and created an unrepentant vision that understands the context black metal was created in and then extends that context to vast lands that only become apparent after years of listening to the obscurest of obscure black metal on vinyl and cassette, a process Rage Nucléaire has no doubt extensively partaken in and celebrated. It's difficult to describe how genuine Unrelenting Fucking Hatred sounds and the authority with which it dissertates, this record a painstaking tribute to black metal and an unrelenting flash of where black metal can go when it is pursued by those who deeply care about the genre and its expositions. Unrelenting Fucking Hatred not only establishes Rage Nucléaire's identity, but it also savagely attacks with the singularity of those who know exactly how authoritative they are which, as one would imagine, creates disorientingly strong results: if we were still in 1991 instead of the here and now of 2012, Unrelenting Fucking Hatred would be furiously tape-traded in Scandinavia and northern Europe, with pentagrams and 'Hail Satan!' omniously inscribed on to those TDK-90 cassettes by those who cared enough to ensure their like-minded compatriots were made aware of Rage Nucléaire's monumental take on the genre. Unrelenting Fucking Hatred is that good.
NOTE: And now, so we can be as transparent as possible with you, the reader, we'll let you know that Unrelenting Fucking Hatred features a brief soundclip from a speech given by Adolf Hitler. As we here at BraveWords.com in NO way support nor tolerate racism or fascism of any kind, we got in touch with Lord Worm to ask why Rage Nucléaire would include a soundbite from one of humanity's worst mass murderers. Lord Worm informed us that Rage Nucléaire considers Hitler and the Nazis to be the worst human evil and that Rage Nucléaire believes the Nazis were individuals who possessed an "absolute, unrepetant lack of humanity." Further, Lord Worm explained that the soundclip is akin to Kenneth Branagh's performance as Nazi official Reinhard Heydrich in the HBO film Conspiracy, and that the Hitler soundclip on Unrelenting Fucking Hatred acts only as a device to describe, and not support, the atrocity of the Nazis.
