Hollywood’s HOTEL DIABLO deliver a great dose of asskickery on its debut release, The Return To Psycho, California. Formed in 2011 by ex-ADLER’S APPETITE’s vocalist Rick Stitch and guitarist Alex Grossi and W.A.S.P.’s powerhouse rhythm section of bassist Mike Duda and drummer Mike Dupke, HD is built on memorable hooks and strong melodies. The Return To Psycho, California, fabulously produced by Gilby Clarke (ex-GUNS N’ ROSES), is a collection of stories set to kick ass rock ‘n’ roll. They embrace their ’80s hair metal influences by being well-versed in power ballads, taking lessons from SKID ROW, LILLIAN AXE and WARRANT. One of the highlights of TRTPC is the stellar vocals of Stitch, he scream, croons and rocks his way through with his expressive and emotional vocals. The band is equally up to the challenge by creating some dark, sleazy, straight forward rock songs and ballads with great hooks, layered vocal harmonies and memorable melodies with good transitions. Alternative acoustic versions of 'What You Do To Me' and 'Bury You' are nice touches and a good way to end the CD. The band exudes great chemistry throughout the CD, and it’s easily noticeable, which makes TRTPC a bonafide winner.
