HARDWARES

THE CHARIOT

One Wing

(E1/Goodfight)

With their last album, 2010's Long Live, Georgia metalcore punkers seriously drew a line in the sand with their raw and unique approach to noisy metalcore. This was no polished, pretty-boy, sit-down-to-pee prefab mallcore rubbish. The band had fully proven they were as raw and real as bands like this come. With One Wing, they've taken that and ran with it, getting even more out there: here, the angular sludge of 'First' and chaotic punk of 'Love.' provide such a great mid-album back-to-back shot of adrenaline that even potential momentum-ruiner 'Speak' (just the singer screaming over piano... look, sometimes too much screaming is just too much) can't bring down. Later in the disc, the southern metal riffing in 'Tongues' will please fans of NOLA sludge. I think I prefer Long Live over this one by a hair but, man, you simply must check out this band, doesn't really matter which album. They're easily one of the top three metalcore bands of today, and definitely the most unhinged and primitive.
