HARDWARES

OBSESSION

Order Of Chaos

(Inner Wound)

Reviewed by : Mark Gromen
Rating : 6.5

The classic '80s New England based outfit, originally fronted by Mike Vescera, who later became singer for MALMSTEEN and LOUDNESS, offers up ten new traditional Americanized (slightly commercial) metal anthems. It’s OBSESSION, at least in name (Vescera is the lone original). For the uninitiated, envision a like-minded ROB ROCK (who also started in the area, fronting VICE). ‘Twist Of The Knife’ is a lively dose of high-pitched adrenalin. Guitars are admirably shredded by heretofore unknowns Scott Boland (MVP) and John Bruno (X FACTOR X). ‘When The Smoke Clears’ begins polished and acoustic, whereas the mid-tempo follow-up, ‘License To Kill’ has something of a late 80s DIO quality about its construction. Decent enough and sure to garner a few overseas festival appearances.
