GRAVE DIGGER

Home At Last EP

(Napalm)

As Chris Boltendahl has been doing for some time know, this is a little German six-pack, prior to the full length. While the title cut will be part of the forthcoming Clash Of The Gods, ‘Rage Of The Savage Beast’ and the Wacken hymn, ‘Metal Will Never Die’, are exclusive to this collection, which also includes a trio of live cuts, from Wacken 2010: super-charged ‘Ballad Of A Hangman’, ‘Excalibur’ and the ubiquitous ‘Heavy Metal Breakdown’. All told, more than 29 minutes of music. ‘Home At Last’ is the mid-tempo tale of Odysseus’ finally setting foot in Ithica, after a decade’s long return from victory in the Trojan War, as portrayed in Homer’s classic novel The Iliad. The full-length looks to be about Greek mythology, as a whole. ‘Savage Beast’ is a gravel throated stomp that locks into classic Digger mode, as does the gritty, simplistic, yet infectious ‘Metal Will Never Die’. These rousing live cuts are interesting since they all feature the a cappella group VAN CANTO on vocal support, as seen/hear on The Clans Are Still Marching DVD/CD.
