INVADER Invader (Innervenus) Reviewed by : Greg Pratt Rating : 6.5

First off, if anyone still cares about record labels, Innervenus appears to be one worth keeping an eye on. Pittsburgh-based INVADER (don’t even try Googling that; there are and have been more than a few metal bands with that name), unfortunately, are not the best representation of what the label has to offer. But, you know, they ALMOST are, so we’re keeping an eye on them, but for now the tunes are just too unfocused. It’s testament to how little the band cares, but, c’mon… care about us poor listeners a bit, please? The thick, enveloping production helps to make this one fun to listen to, even if the riffs—which go from thrash to hardcore to punk to metalcore to death metal—are a bit of a strain. I like the attitude, the approach (in theory), the cover art, sonics, even the logo… the band could just benefit from a bit of restraint and focus.
