One for the old-timers, a little too mellow for most BW&BK listeners. Apparently a bunch of guys who have toyed around the industry for a while, playing with the likes of Ayreon (vocalist Robert Soeterboek) and After Forever (fellow Dutchman and guest keyboardist Joost van den Broek) decided to record the music they like. Despite the European pedigree, actually an American based outfit. They take pride in the fact they’re a blues based hard rock outfit with keyboards circa 70s Deep Purple. Actually, only the opening ‘Set Me Free’ (not a Sweet cover) lives up to the billing of Blackmore & Co, although there are elements, like guitar solos and Hammond organ throughout these nine originals. ‘Leave Me Blue’ has a decided Southern Rock flavor, a style that hasn’t had a new outfit in decades! Ditto the slow, Southern drawl of ‘Little Sister’. There’s plenty of Hammond and electric piano on ‘Still of The Night’ (not a Whitesnake cover).
