MÖTLEY CRÜESaints Of Los Angeles(Motley Records/Eleven Seven Music)Reviewed by : Aaron Small Rating : 9.0 |

Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee, Vince Neil and Mick Mars are back together, wreaking musical havoc like only they can. Saints Of Los Angeles is the Crue’s ninth studio album and the title track is easily one of the best songs the band has ever written. On par with ‘Shout At The Devil’ and ‘Wildside’, ‘Saints Of Los Angeles’ is the undisputed rock anthem of the summer. Each of the 13 songs on Saints was inspired by events detailed in the band’s best-selling biography, The Dirt. According to Sixx, SOLA is “a tale of dirty needles, damaged minds, music industry battles and a whole lot of sex” – and he isn’t kidding. ‘This Ain’t A Love Song’ (This Is A Fuck Song); say no more. ‘Just Another Psycho’ grooves and twists while ‘Face Down In The Dirt’ claws and scratches. Without fail, each of these rough and tumble rockers will scar you in one way or another. ‘Chicks = Trouble’ tells the tale of “gold digging whores” whereas ‘What’s It Gonna Take’ brings you back to the early ‘80s when Motley was struggling to get noticed. Working behind the scenes on this CD are Nikki’s cohorts in Sixx:A.M. James Michael served as producer, mixer and engineer with assistance from DJ Ashba. Together this team are the ‘Mutha Fuckers Of The Year’. After all the greatest hits packages, box sets, live albums, DVDs, books and side-projects that have been issued since New Tattoo in 2000, it’s beyond exciting to have this brand new bunch of sleazy, intoxicating Motley Crue tunes to sink your teeth into.
