Unhappy diehards calling the band soft and has-beens have mired Dokken’s last few releases, but those calls will certainly be silenced with their new opus, Lightning Strikes. The band has struck a perfect balance between the sound of fan favourites Tooth And Nail and Under Lock And Key while being able to stay fresh and relevant. New guitarist Jon Levin breathes life and fancy fretwork into instant classics ‘Heart Of Stone’, ‘Oasis’ and ‘Standing On The Outside’ while Don Dokken shows that he still has the voice and ease to deliver the hard rockers juxtaposed to heartfelt ballads like ‘How I Miss Your Smile’ and ‘I Remember’.
