Under the guise of Buck Bourbon, Wednesday 13 abandons his horror movie montage for outlaw country music. Aided by his former and current bassists, Kid Kid (Jesse Crow) and Jamie Hoover (Satchel), the trio have crafted 13 fine-pickin’ ditties to whiskey, women, six-shooters and the devil. W13’s exemplary sense of humour runs rampant through the entire album, particularly on ‘Drink ‘Till You Ain’t Ugly’, ‘Suck My Dixie’ and ‘Headed For The Altar’. Dedicated to Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings, these songs owe just as much to Hank Williams and David Alan Coe. Make no mistake, this is not a parody of those country legends, rather a salute to them. From start to finish, Highway To Hangovers is an absolute blast. And remember the redneck motto: “A.A. stands for Alcohol is Awesome.”
