Non-Human Level is the side-project of Darkane’s Christofer Malmstrom, but along the way Malmstrom has picked up stragglers Ryan van Poederooyen (Devin Townsend Band), Gustaf Hielm (ex-Meshuggah) and fellow Darkane guy Peter Wildoer. Non-Human Level’s basis is thrash, much like Malmstrom and Wildoer’s main association, but with the thrash also comes death metal tendencies and, above all, crazy amounts of soloing. While that description seems far less interesting than it actually is, Non-Human Level is the perfect record for guitar aficionados and will probably remind most why they got into this genre in the first place. Non-Human Level is contemporary, groove-infested thrash (but not nu-metal nor metalcore), that pushes the adrenaline button into over-drive, in the process making metal feel vital and exciting again.
