Re: NOW DRINKING - BEER SNOBBERY VOL. 4
I have no problem with cans, and actually like having the option of getting some good beers in them. They are easier to take on road trips, and take up less room in the fridge. They also do a better job of keeping light out than a bottle. I like the Torpedo talls, because when I pour one of them into a 20oz pint glass it I don’t feel like I have half a beer. Not only that, but Torpedo is a pretty good beer if you plan on drinking more than a couple. That Victory Headwaters Pale Ale that I had last night was really good by the way. Recommended to fans of pale ales that toe the IPA line. And last but not least, I couldn’t resist picking up a bomber of this when I was at the grocery store today. It's good stuff

Re: NOW DRINKING - BEER SNOBBERY VOL. 4
I grabbed the oatmeal red when i was down there last time. It was very good.
I would have grabbed more, but my cart was already full, and that one jumped out at me. Sounded interesting, and it was.

Went out boozing last night and taking it easy tonight, sort of... with this beast. What a great beer this is. I still don't see it on the LC website, but it's clearly out there. Queue douchey review. Style is Russian Imperial Stout at 11% ABV N: coffee, booze, molasses, vanilla, chocolate M: full, oily T: Oak, Roasty, coffee, bakers chocolate F: coffee, oak woodiness, slight boozey warmth.

The list of ingredients for the Spring Oddity is making me incredibly intrigued: Pure Muskoka Water, Heather Tips, Juniper Berries, Sweet Orange Peel Shavings, North American Malts, Noble Hops, Belgian Yeast and Belgian Candi Sugar Wasn't very memorable for me, but I might try it again soon.

You saved yourself a trip to the fridge by drinking warm beer. I don't get the "OMG! FUCK YES! TALLBOYS! " thing. Nothing against them, but I personally don't get the excitement behind them. It's sarcastic, at least when I say it. I find it amusing when good beer is sold in cans. Not that Torpedo is amazing or anything but it's good stuff for the price. Having tried to take bottled beer backpacking, I can get it (no pun intended). There are times where a bottle just isn't convenient. Good beer out of a can is better than bad beer out of a bottle. What I don't get is the aluminium bottle thing. It's just a can in a different shape. And heavier. The only thing I see it for is so that you can get it colder faster than a normal bottle. Other than that, it is only out there to target the imbeciles in society. I feel like the people who invented it are laughing it up right now. Nothing wrong with a can if the beer is right. Red Racer is one of Canada's best IPA imo and it's in a can. Poor it into a glass and you'd be none the wiser. Headstock IPA as well.

I went into the Yonge/Davis LCBO last night and to my surprise they had Tree's DIPA, so I picked one up. Just as good as I remember.
Also, I forget who was into it, but they have the Banana Bread Beer there as well.

Found this on the website. Get it if you can, if you want to spend the 15 bones. I assume there will be more coming into stores as well. http://www.lcbo.com/lcbo-ear/lcbo/produ ... ber=331330

I bought a 6 pack of Boneshaker on the weekend based on my friend's recommendation. Unfiltered India pale ale 7.1%.. It's pretty good but wouldn't buy it all the time. anyone else like it?

Many of us love it. Well I love it. Many others may just like it, i can't remember. Still one of the best IPAs in this province. Top 3 probably, along with Smash Bomb and Headstock for me. With Mad Tom just behind. Not sure if I'm missing any other IPAs really worth talking about.

I haven't browsed this thread in a while, just post it in when I experience something new. I'll look into those other IPA's. I usually go to the beer store for my beer purchases but lcbo is good for when you want something new, for me anyway. another new one I discovered about is Zywiec. I'm not a beer snob per se but I like checkin out new suds.

Re: NOW DRINKING - BEER SNOBBERY VOL. 4
Got these today: The He'brew I've heard a ton about and it's supposed to go fast, so I figured I'd pick it up and give it a whirl tomorrow night. The Tree DIPA I think we all know is godly.

Re: NOW DRINKING - BEER SNOBBERY VOL. 4
Yeah i grabbed a couple bottles of it last week (the He'brew, that is)... Looking forward to it. You'll probably drink it before me though, if you drink it tomorrow night, so let us know once it's been had!
If you get a chance, i highly recommend the Great Lakes 25th Anniversary Imperial Stout i posted a few days ago. It's pricey, but i thought it was worth it.

Re: NOW DRINKING - BEER SNOBBERY VOL. 4
I would buy that GLB, but it's too fucking expensive. You figure the local craft breweries would not keep doing this, but it keeps happening. I'd love to try it but I can't justify that for one bottle.

Re: NOW DRINKING - BEER SNOBBERY VOL. 4
Just saw this posted on The Bar Towel, these IPA's will be coming in shortly (if not already here) to the LCBO: 306993 - Green Flash West Coast IPA 322016 - Samuel Adams Latidude 48 IPA 330845 - Elysian Immortal IPA 324210 - Centennial IPA 319798 - Philips Hop Circle IPA Looking forward to all of these, especially the Green Flash (didn't bother last time because of the bottling date), the Sam Adams and especially the Centennial as it'll be my first crack at a Founder's brew (assuming this is the same Centennial).

Re: NOW DRINKING - BEER SNOBBERY VOL. 4
The LC is obsessed with IPAs As for the price of the GLB bottle, I completely agree. We get jacked to shit with by our own local breweries/LCBO. I couldn't help myself when i saw 'Bourbon Barrel Aged Russian Imperial Stout', though. I still recommend it. I think it's worth the little extra in this case.

I've seen that out but not a big fan of Great Lakes Brewery but now maybe I will pick this up.

Re: NOW DRINKING - BEER SNOBBERY VOL. 4
Their 25th anniversary beers have all been very good to great, quality stuff. I think overall they are a good brewery. The Devils Pale ale and Crazy Canuck are both solid, basic beers, in my opinion. If you want a session beer that isn't shit, Crazy Canuck is just that. And as i said before, you all know I'm a big fan of their Pumpkin Ale (thinking it's one of the best that we can get) and their Winter Lager. Definitely not afraid of this brewery! I like it!

Re: NOW DRINKING - BEER SNOBBERY VOL. 4
I tried the Jewbelation last night, and holy shit, there was a ton going on in that beer. There was smokiness, dried fruit (raisins?), and it was pretty heavy, definitely a sipper. The 14.5 % was enough to get me real buzzed, but the booziness wasn't completely overpowering like I thought it would be. I'd recommend it.
