It has been interesting to watch this woman go from being hailed as a hero, then quickly become the poster child for Incompetence, Cronyism, Fraud, Nepotism, and Hypocrisy. The First Nations protesters would be wise to distance themselves as far as possible from this awful hag and all three of her chins.

Also, according to recent surveys, blocking the roads is not winning people over to their side. This is a crucial point in these protests -they have people's attention now. They can either make themselves out to be reasonable and win some public support against government inaction, or they can piss more people off and fizzle into obscurity like the "occupy" movement did.

Yeah, the' "blockade" in Edmonton was a joke. It was peaceful and got their faces on the news, but it was still a joke.

There were more press and police than there were protesters, and traffic still was allowed through. Also, the chief of the Enoch Reserve right beside Edmonton came straight out into the open with the press and told them that they support protests, but don't support blocking public roads.

You know, First Nations have an opportunity right now while the people in power are keeping an open ear, and it's the time to win people over to their side, and not be antagonistic.

With the way the demographics in this country are changing, I doubt in 20-30 years, when Canada is led by Prime Minister Chan, Prime Minister Singh, or Prime Minister Mohammed, that they will be at all sympathetic about treaties that Aboriginals signed with British Monarchs in ancient times. The days of "white guilt" are about to end.

LOL at your white perspective, it's not take short of time for a minority to become prime minister, longer even, it may not even happen at all. And if they do become prime minister, they'll be more sympathetic than your realize. Check your perspective man.

You can't say that's entirely up to them. The issues that they are protesting about are out there, but all the news wants to report about is the protests themselves and what bridges and roads are being blocked.

Mention of Bill C-45 appears sparsely in some of the articles, and an explanation of what that bill entailed is not easy to find. Maybe these were more prominent in the first days of the movement but they certainly aren't appearing much in Toronto publications this week. When that information is not present, you can't blame the protestors for the negative reactions from the public. Someone who is only picking up on the story based on a couple of headlines will have absolutely zero clue about the issues that are actually being discussed. I've seen more reporting about the hunger strike than about the removal of regulations that apply to waterways and the oil sands, or about the implications of the proposed pipeline.

The protestors can yell and scream and have placards displaying this information all over the place, but if reporters don't show these things or mention them, anyone who is not actually at a protest will only have the impression that it's a meaningless, unorganized movement.

The Occupy movement didn't fizzle out, they simply stopped being the story-du-jour for the press. Frankly I think the Aboriginal protestors aren't being disruptive enough.
