Had that Renaissance tonight, it was fucking delicious. I liked it a lot more than the stout they had here months back.

Hmm, I still have one of those stouts. Saw this in the LCBO and wasn't sure about it but I shall pick up a bottle and try it out.

Well, it's not like I would go out of my way to post a beer like this here, but it came to me as a surprise. I picked it up knowing that someone was going to be at my band house that doesn't like microbrewery beers. Generally, the type of person who couldn't drink a hop if their life depended on it. I thought, "hey, if it's gonna taste like oak than maybe I'll like this even more than them." After having it, I can say that it's easily the single most interesting beer I've ever had that has been put out by a well-known mass production beer company that is found in every bar.

I like how it tasted darker than it looked. It also really had that oak taste which blew me away right off the bat. When companies like this try to introduce microbrewery traits into their beer they usually tend to make it a very faint and vaguely noticeable taste. This one was full on oak explosion. Probably even more than many other microbreweries that have had oak flavors in their beer. I have no complaints really. I'll grab it again to review for sure.

I really enjoy this beer, I have a 6-pack at my parents and I have a bottle everytime I go down there for dinner. It surprised me when I first had it as to how good it actually tasted.

Sounds good. I'd try it. After all, Rickard's Red was my "gateway" beer, so I owe them some credit.

That’s a quality brew, and I will take it over many of the fancy micro brews that we all get so excited about. My friend got married over the summer, and he got a keg of ESB for the beer drinkers at the reception. It was a glorious night.

I didn’t have anything new this weekend. I got a mixed 12 pack of Middle Ages, and a mixed 12 of Saranac. My fridge was on E, so I wanted to start building my stock up again with some of the staples of my drunken diet.

So I went to the Granite Brewery pub the other day, I had a pint of Keefe’s Irish Stout (A rich, malty stout with roasted, chocolate and coffee notes ending in a dry finish. 4.5%) and then I picked up a Growler of their Darkside Black IPA (Black in colour, this IPA starts with a rich maltiness and follows with a very hoppy bitter finish. Using five different malts and three hop additions, it is a strong but well balanced, unique ale. 6.75%) Pictured below.

Don't get me wrong, I love ESB, but I've had it a million times. Would've liked to try something different is all.

You know I'm on vacation, when I'm drinking Beer on Sunday night.

Gonna hit up some Samuel Adams this week...this dude at work likes to try different beers and if he isn't too fond of them or has extra of ones he likes and wants us to try, he always kicks them down to us.

This time we will be trying the Winter Collection beers.....he has to make room in the fridge for the Spring collection...YAY for us!

I saw a Chocolate Bock that I can't wait to try....yummmmmmmm!

They have a regular ass Boston Lager in there too.....already know I like that one!

Granite is nothing special. Its a place to go when the LCBO is closed, thats about it.

My Moms boss basically lives there, it's his favourite spot. Good food, one off brews you can't find anywhere else. The Darkside Black IPA, drank 2 pints of that and was feeling it pretty nicely.
