Blasphomet wrote: Which again brings me to Anhur saying I painted with a broad brush. You're right, I did, and the list doesn't do much to prove i am wrong in doing so. The list was similar last year, and many years previous when i checked out the older ones in the hall of fame. I think it's generic and boring with a few exceptions. I don't think it makes me a bad person, and I'm pretty sure a lot of other people here would agree. It's no biggy really. I could have just said "Hey great job LoaF! See you again next year!" and left it at that... but i didn't. Because that would be boring. I didn’t really intend to single you out, I know that I kind of did, but only because yours was the most recent post of this nature and the one that I just read. This comes up every year, and I sort of sit on the fence about it and end up being annoyed by both extremes. My main point to you though is to question your implication that something like Bell Witch would actually stick with a bigger audience if they heard it. As cool as it is, it’s a major niche album. It’s not going to appeal to many fans of other types of metal, and that’s just the way it is. I get more annoyed when everybody gets a massive erection for something like a new Exodus album, and never even bother to check out something like Vektor when I know damn well that that band should have massive appeal to any thrasher worth his salt.

Re: Braveboard Top Albums of 2012
I fully agree with you on it being niche, and don't really expect it to grasp many being, so perhaps Bell Witch was a little bit of an extreme example. And maybe a lot of the other stuff on my list is too for that matter. But that is sort of my point i guess. Most people are pretty generic. Maybe they just need a kickstart to start exploring a bit more.

Exodus fans don't like exploring. They like eating at the same Thai place they've eaten at for the last 15 years. Fuck trying the other Thai places or some fucking Greek shit. JUST GIVE ME THE SAME PAD THAI I ORDER EVERY TIME WITH EXTRA CORE. THANKS.
Outlook? Bleak.
Bell Witch? Too cool for them anyway.

/elite Which is why I don't feel as bad for forgetting to include one of the excellent but obscure folk BM albums I heard this year... it wouldn't have charted anyway For the record it was KHORS - Wisdom of Centuries. Should have been in my top 10.

I just bought Grand Supreme Blood Court - that DEFINITELY would've made my list had I gotten it sooner. I'm pretty surprised it wasn't on this final list.

Yeah, it's an awesome album. It made my Top 15, and I think a couple of others put it down on theirs, as well. I actually like it more than the new Asphyx album. Eric Daniels was who gave early Asphyx their distinctive sound, with his guitar riffs and playing style, and you can hear that more on the GSBC album more than either of the past two Asphyx albums, IMO.

the Jess and the Ancient Ones placement was probably the most exciting for me. I figured that really no body listened to that album. That was great to see.

That one was all you buddy, pretty sure I started sampling on YouTube after you mentioned that they were similar to The Devil's Blood but with more of a pop feel. I love them. More cowbell!

I'm kind of surprised Desaster didn't list. I know at least three of us had it on there. Perhaps if it were higher on our lists it would have? I kind of have at least an assumed idea of how the scoring works, but I could be way off.

Re: Braveboard Top Albums of 2012
sadly i just dont have time to explore all the new stuff anymore. i still bought about 25 or 30 albums that came out this year, but my listening time is limited these days and i still play the fuck outta the 900 albums i already own so that does make it tough.

Snoozefest! Again the first two, emphasis on first, are the only releases needed by Khors.
