Birdog has been able to get it in Mass for a while, but it just showed up in NY this past spring. Great stuff.

Here's the selection for Wegman's:

https://www.wegmans.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductListView?forwardto=ProductListView&Ne=6&langId=-1&storeId=10052&N=207+4294795881&catalogId=10002&Ns=P_Velocity|1||P_Name|0

I found this awhile back when Blasphomet was first wanting to go to Buffalo for his beer haul and I was interested in seeing what they had. I hope it helps!

A buddy brought this to my attention. Only 1404 being distributed to the LCBO's @ $75 for a 6 pack. Who's in?

Just put on the shelves today in Toronto...

Image

My luck has been strange as of late. A month ago, I find a 15 pack of beer left in the beer store parking lot where only 3 bottle were broken. Perhaps someone dropped it and said fuck it without knowing you could return it for a full refund if you never left the property... then I get into a car accident and now I grab a beer haul and this 1litre howe sound pothole filler imperial stout got thrown into my bag at lcbo free of charge. I don't think it was intentional and I didn't notice it until I got home, but I totally got the biggest most expensive bottle I intended to by free of charge. Even more funny... I'M FUCKING BROKE. So I knew I'd just be putting myself into debt by grabbing it. Funny how that worked.

Image

Also, this.

I grabbed a Brooklyn Chocolate Stout as well. Haven't had that since I started reviewing beers. I hated it then, but I'll fucking love it now!

 to my ups and :shoot: for my downs.

mandypants brought this up a few pages back. Nice to see what it actually looks like. Thanks. I want to get on the bandwagon for this.

That Howe Sound 1L, seems like I am going to buy this because I can reuse the 1L bottles for Homebrew!

Grabbed a sixer of this last night. It's become one of my staples for seasonal winter beers, and I'm never upset to have it. One of my favorite labels/packaging as well.

Reached into the cellar tonight. Queue douchey review! :)

Image

Presentation: One of the best. A unique and magnificant bottle that is corked and caged.

Pour/Colour: Into tulip. Deep golden straw with a large, fluffy head.

Nose: Typical Belgian yeast, bread, grapefruit, banana.

Taste: Light coloured fruit, like peach, a little tangy. Compared to what you'd expect from a Tripel it's a little more mild, more drinkable for someone who may be turned off by something like Duvel. Lighter and very thirst quenching. Would be good on a warm summer day. At 10% the alchohol is incredibly well masked, and almost nonexistent, which underwhelmed me a bit.

Finish: Light fruit, like peach. Not very long lasting.

Extrememly drinkable, and I wish I could have nabbed more of this so I could have compared a new fresh bottle to this, but it was the only one left at Whitby's smallest LCBO last year (i was shocked it was available there and nowhere else around here). Still very nice after a year and I don't imagine age did it any harm, but i admit i was expecting a little bit more. Regardless, I wish I had more of this!

4/5.

I asked a couple of people if I could buy a bottle off of them, but fuck it. Wow, I just said that. I have no freakin money. I think I'll still bite the bullet for sure. I'll just only drink this beer for a week straight and nothing else and that should make up for the difference in cash, lol.

Aww... the painful reminder of the beer I lost through the thievery of my old superintendant, lol.

I did get to try it though. My review bottle was stolen.

Now how the fuck did you get it for free? Did they just forget to scan it? I actually went in to the Yonge/Davis location yesterday to see if anything new was in (just price checking as I'm broke till next week), and I saw the Pothole Filler, took it to the cash to ask the price since there wasn't one, and he couldn't get the price at all, wasn't even in the system. However I did see the Rogue Yellow Snow and I know I can get that next week. BTW Stormy, lemme know how that Skull Splitter is. Also, have you tried the Box Steam Dark & Handsome yet? Not sure if it's worth getting as I didn't care much for the Funnel Blower.

I had mine when it came out, and although I was kinda new to Tripel's at the time, it came across as really drinkable and fresh. I liked it a lot, I imagine I'd like it a lot more now.

I think you answered your own question. It's possible that she scanned it, heard the beep and then kept scanning the rest of the products. That makes more sense as to why I ended up getting it for free. The lady was on auto-pilot and she heard 5 beeps instead of 4 so she thought she was all good.

The Skull Splitter was awesome. I'm not a big fan of English ales, but if they all tasted like that than they would grow on me. It's got more flavor than your average English Ale. It had a unique dryness to it, but it still managed to have a unique bitter after-taste. It may have had a dry effect, but the bitterness makes it more refreshing than most would find. I would get it again. Kinda reminded me of dead guy ale, (not the dry part of it)

The Dark & Handsome. Well, lets put it this way. I loved the funnel blower for it's unique vanilla taste. That's what probably made the beer more enjoyable for me. That's could be what other people didn't like about it. The Dark & Handsome is always worth a try. It's a little unique in its own way, but it doesn't have the in-your-face flavor that the Funnel Blower had. Would I buy it multiple times? Probably just once a year. Now that I look back at it, I think I'm gonna say for the third time on this page that a product would be better if it was imperial. That would'a done the trick :)
