If they improve, who knows. Lucky to be where they are in a bad division. It would really help if Santana could get himself sorted out. He's been a serious problem. Having watched pretty much every game, it's easy to see why no one really thinks much of them. But being three games out (should be two; Cabrera and Perez essentially handed Tampa the game today) and still not being able to get on a roll as of yet, I'm happy that they're still in it. Their division schedule is back-loaded from here on out. It always helps when you can take care of most of the work yourself without having to worry too much about the other teams. It would be nice to get another hitter; preferably right-handed. But after the Jimenez (who has been excellent lately since they've pared his pitch mix back from six to four) trade, I'm not sure how much quality there is to trade. Chris Antonetti so far has shown that he's willing to gamble, too. So the next couple weeks could be interesting.

Never have cared about All-Star games in any sport. So I didn't miss a thing tonight.

 Re: 2012 Baseball Thread
Buffalo can barely support the two teams it has, did they really think a city that small could support a third?

Evidently. It is a pretty stadium, though. I pass it to and from home in Ohio and here.

Come Friday it will be back to watching them lose and I'll keep watching and screaming at my tv like it will make a difference.

I went out mid-game yesterday expecting an easy to win only to come home and see 11-9. Where the hell is the defense? The Jays have the 2nd most runs scored, but the 3rd worst defense.

 Re: 2012 Baseball Thread
Well, Bautista just left the game with a left wrist/forearm injury. I have the game on mute but it didn't look good. That would likely spell the end to any kind of wild card push I imagine. If indeed it is as bad as it looked.

 Re: 2012 Baseball Thread
When did Valverde change his mechanic motion? With no one on, he has a baffling looking stretch motion that doesn't even look legal. I guess it is since no umpires say anything...but my God it's even weirder than Tiant or Hrabovsky back in the day. It looks like a balk everytime...but it doesn't matter I guess since no one is on base

And even worse: Rockies trade Jeremy Guthrie to the Royals for Jonathan Sanchez. Yikes.

 Re: 2012 Baseball Thread
So the Indians appear to be in the midst of their annual free-fall from contention, which has sent the national media's favorite pastime into action: When the Indians Become Sellers. First rumor: Giants want Chris Perez and Shin-Soo Choo. Giants fan package return (including Asdrubral Cabrera to the Giants, mind you) that I read at MLBtraderumors.com: Brandon Belt (good starting point), Nick Schierholtz ( ), Brad Penny ( ) and Jeremy Affeldt. WOW. The pot must REALLY be good over there.
