In 2006 Randy Johnson won 17 games with a 5.00 (!!!)( ERA (90 ERA+)

In 1999 Pedro Martinez won 23 games with a 2.07 ERA (243 ERA+), then the following year only won 18 games with a 1.74 ERA (291 ERA+). Was he worse that season? Of course not.

In 2009 Felix Hernandez won 19 games with a 2.49 ERA (171 ERA+), then the following year only won 13 games with a 2.27 ERA (174 ERA+). Was he worse that season? Of course not.



So yeah. Wins/Losses for a pitcher is one of the most useless stats in all of sports.

I never really thought about it before, but I'm inclined to agree. Its definitely not always indicative of how well the pitcher performs.

One thing about the Indians this year: For all the inconsistency that comes with Ubaldo Jimenez this season (and I'm being kind calling it that), Justin Masterson has only been slightly better. And it probably would be worse if Roberto Hernadez (AKA: "Fausto Carmona") were on the staff.

Can't afford the injuries, either. Blame the former scouting staff for that one.
