Well, I am waiting to see what happens to that Blue Jays player who got called out on strikes over ball 4.

 Re: 2012 Baseball Thread
Perhaps the most obvious and unsettling retribution call I've ever seen an umpire make. At least in a Jay's game. Strikes 2 and 3 were just.... fucking.... awful. Neither pitch was anywhere near a strike.
Maybe a little bias as a Jays, and Lawrie lost his marbles. I don't blame him, he had a right to be fucking furious but he should have refrained from the helmet throw.

Oh, I agree. Those calls were AWFUL. But, he went postal on that ump...can't do that.

 Re: 2012 Baseball Thread
Nope, you can't. He'll be suspended for sure. I just hate the invisibility of refs and umps in situations like this. The league should come out and say something along the lines of, but obviously not word for word...
"a mistake was made by both parties, the ump will be disciplined for his horrible calls which were obviously done as a form of "i'll show you kid" retribution for Lawrie thinking it was ball four (which clearly it was, by a wide wide margin... along with Lawrie being suspended for his idiotic helmet throwing.".
It's bullshit, and if the ump did his job correctly as an objective employee of the league, that none of it would have happened. Reputation calls are made all the time, but this was just retarded. He also wouldn't have had a beer tossed at him by an irate fan if he did he job correctly and objectively.

The first one was really bad seeing it being called a second strike. The second one being called a third strike was done with absolute purpose, because Lawrie, thinking the first one was a strike, ran a little ways up the first base line. Neither pitch was even borderline. No wonder Lawrie ran up the first baseline. It's like the ump waited for him to do it, knowing he would do it before he called it a ball, and when he did, he called it a strike.

However you want to word it, I highly doubt the ump will be disciplined at all, which is bullshit. Your job is to be impartial and call the game, not take out your problems on players.

Four games for Lawrie.
And the way he acted, you would've thought it was CB Bucknor at the plate.

 Re: 2012 Baseball Thread
Adam Lind gets demoted from the Jays to AAA. Yan Gomes will be called up. He'll likely start at 3rd while Lawrie serves his suspension and then trade 1st base starts with EE until Vlad is ready to DH. I imagine at that point EE will be full-time 1st base.

This is a good thing... Lind just can't hack it anymore. Ever since his back injury. Maybe some time in the minors will help him. We'll see. Which reminds me... time to drop a player.

Going to see the O's-Nats game on Saturday. First place O's versus the almost first place Nats. Should be fun. Fuck the Orioles.

That's actually really surprising! They must have a lot of faith in the guy they brought up or think that Vlad will come on strong when he gets promoted.

Big sweep against Detroit. Verlander is a boss.
