We need bats, not more arms. Our starters have been great and I don't see the point in bringing in another closer if Santos will be healthy soon.

No closer was mentioned :).

I'd take Hamels if the price is right for sure, but not if they give up one of our young arms. Although, if it is a 2 for 1 deal i may consider it,,, especially if they can extend Hamels.

I know no closer was mentioned, I was just pointing out that our pitching staff has been great (other than our closer), we need bats.

No, you need Joey Bats to remember who he is.

Unlike a lot of people, I'm in the mind set of "joey bats may not turn it around and had a couple outstanding years". He clearly isn't as bad as this, but i don't think he will be as good as he was the past two seasons either. Only time will tell I guess, but they are winning without his bat, so i'm resigned to the fact he may have a terrible season.

I know Boston is typically on edge when things are great and are regionally suicidal when things go bad, but I gotta say, I certainly didn't think that a round of golf would cause such a hailstorm of bitching.

When the dude misses a game because he's 'injured' and then goes and leisurely plays golf the very next day? I'd be pretty insulted as a fan. What a tool that tool is. That would be cause for a suspension without pay if i ran the team.

Would it be an issue if he threw seven, and struck out 10? Probably not.

But it was glorious. :)

This issue really isn't yesterdays game imo. The issue is that he missed a start last Wednesday, then went golfing the very next day. The fact he sucked cock last night just gave the crowd and fans even more fodder.

I should also mention i don't care and i hope the Boston's continue to implode :)

People react when a player is 'injured' and goes out fucking clubbing or to a bar or something. The fact that he went golfing, which absolutely involves the 'injured' area of his body, is just spitting in the face of the sox and their fans. That's what I feel about it anyways.

I think that's it's not just that, though. I think they're just absolutely pissed off at the "Curse of Tito." The hiring of Valentine, and everything that led up to it, has been an absolute disaster. This whole golfing thing is the tipping point.

And it doesn't help that Boston has the sense of entitlement where every team should just lay down so they can punch their playoff tickets. So right now, I think they're just throwing tantrums for the sake of it.

That said, they were "dead and buried" last year and stayed in it until Longoria hit the walk-off. So I think there's a lot of unwarranted "Iced Ray-ing" right now.

I think my guys caught them at the right time; I'm usually happy with a series split against Boston. I'm feeling pretty good that they can take three of four.

Thank the Lords of Baseball that Tampa Bay came around and became a force to be reckoned with... A team that can prevent this unnatural disaster from happening every year.

... On that note, I love Tampa... Rays/Jays games are always great, and they're proof that you don't need a $34289748927398472389 team salary to have a great season of blurnsball. Too bad the people around Florida don't really seem to care about them. Even when they're in first or fighting for a playoff spot or anything exciting, there's still shitty attendance.

Beckett was also the prime target, the head honcho behind the fried chicken and beer drinkin' fiasco they had during games in the Boston bullpen there before.

This just in: the Red Sox stink.

This is the most unlikeable Red Sox team I've ever been around. I really don't enjoy watching them, to the point where I'm -this shy- of openly rooting against them.

How they've managed to go from the teams that were pure joy to root for to this band of entitled, under-performing dickheads in just a few short years (even some of the same players) is amazing.

They'd rather not play the excessive luxury tax any more... at least until they have some legit home grown talent, such as a new Jeter type and more... that's the way i see it anyways. They are tired of spending a fortune on underachieving free agents only to be not good enough in the end. I Actually think it's sort of smart. Then when they have some good, top end young talent and are ready to win again they will spend all the money and probably become another semi-dynasty.

The Yankees are the Yankees... More money than the average 10 teams combined can shake a stick at, and despite that, they still probably have more haters than fans. They're like the Maple Leafs of Baseball... except for the fact that they win sometimes...

Before 2004, Baseball barely even existed in Boston anymore... Then it all changed. I went to a game that year... still the best Ball game I've ever been to. My buddy and I bought tickets the day of the game and we managed to get front rows up the third baseline. For fun, we cheered our hearts out for Boston just to fuck with the Jays fans around us... they lost that game, but they went on to win the World Series with that miraculous playoff comeback that year... In doing this, the biggest assholes on the planet seemed to align themselves with Boston. You'd go to a Jays/Sox game in Toronto and it would be littered with Assholes who call themselves Red Sox fans. The bars around downtown would and still do complain about how much they hate the American Boston fans who would drive up for the game, because they are just what I said... Assholes... pricks who never gave a shit about Boston when they were a bunch of losers, but my how that bandwagon grew! It started wearing a pop collar. Yes, Baston(no spelling mistake) is the ultimate douchebag team now.

I can see both sides, really. But Boston, both the media and fanbase, will jump on any plausible reason as to the why the team(s) struggle. Beckett did himself no favors by being strident about it afterwards, either.

That's not true at all. There was a lull in the mid '90's but by 1998-99 they were back as kings. Hell, the Patriots were about to win their 3rd Superbowl in 4 seasons and all anyone would talk about is the Sox possibly acquiring ARod.

Boston is a baseball town.

Joey Bats certainly found his bat tonight.

Too bad it happened on a day the starting pitcher fell apart... but it's been a good game so far.

One pitch can be somewhat forgivable... but two in a row like that. Pure fuckin' bullshit. At least a fan nailed him with a beer on his way out.
