Unbelievable news. Rab was one of the people I most loved the opportunity to work with, even if it was never in person. We only shook hands once, but my eyes are not dry. The Metal world lost another great warrior today and the world lost a great man.

Wasn't Cronos a total dickhead to Rab on the boat? Fuck him and his voice, I say.

This is depressing. I only chatted him in person once at a gig, but I always enjoyed his posts here and I laughed at the videos of his comedy bm band and the CNN report on the metal cruise. He just seemed like a fascinating character, always intensely passionate about the music but never taking himself too seriously. The man died way too young. My deepest condolences for his friends here and for his family.

I wish I had known you better, Rab. Rest in peace.

I have COMPLETELY lost touch and been away from this community for a LONG time, only to look through a familiar face, and having the saddening surprise of his passing. Mr. Rab was a fine gentlemen to me when I first started posting here, welcoming me with open arms and being a real non-judgmental fellow metalhead... I only wished that I knew this man more now. He seems like a guy who loved life to the fullest, and a cool cat to share some beers with. As I said online: RIP to one of the nicest guys I've met from the Braveboards... May you rest peacefully in Valhalla and share many drinks with Quorthon...

This is how I initially found out about his passing. Kelly Shaefer is a wonderful guy!

Everyone is rightfully sad in this thread as I am as well but I sure would love a thread some time in the future when we are ready where people post their best personal stories involving Rob.

He was such a generous person. I remember after Adrian passed, as part of my secret santa package he sent me the video of Adrian's memorial and I cried through the whole thing.

Never thought I'd be crying for you, my friend. Big guy, bigger heart. Lived life to the fucking maximum - how many people can say they were on CNN for being metal?!

Horrible news... A good guy. Generous. Warm hearted. Always meant well. He will be missed.

Rob was the shit, unique, memorable and larger than life. Never met but chatted online some years ago. I'll mostly always remember him for fronting Detsorgsekalf and all those hilarious yet killer tunes.

RIP: One hell of a cool dude.

I never met him, but he was always cool, and funny whenever he would comment on one of my posts. Seemed like he was also into a lot of the same bands as me as well. RIP man.

He got close and personal enough with Cronos for Cronos to be a dick to him?! Man, he really got to live the life. He met and hung out with so many rock and metal icons through good times and bad by the sounds of it.

Sorry there, Lost Patrol, but I think trying to drag Cronos down in this thread is another sign of disrespect to Rab. Whatever the story is, I'm sure Cronos would not be a dickhead in this thread.

I was very impressed seeing him in the video about that metal boat cruise. That was classic! And seeing him up on stage with Alestorm at Paganfest just showed how incredibly popular he has become thanks to his joyful and friendly spirit.

I am sorry to hear about this loss. My thoughts to all his friends and family.
