R.I.P Just saw him at Opeth /Mastodon the other week. Didnt really know him other than the board, and some PMs about Wacken, but seemed like a really nice dude. Condolences to his friends and family

 Re: Rest in peace Rab
Saw this thread the second I logged on and said out loud, "No Waaay!" Just saw him at Paganfest and the David Gold Memorial. Another one of the most kind and non-judgmental metal heads gone. You know, for a little while I was getting jealous because all these guys were going at a time when many people miss and mourn them while many of the rest of us will probably out live anybody we know and die in obscurity. But that jealousy is now extinguished and I just feel the loss of great people. And losing Rab is sad because he was one guy that never judged me and just accepted me for who I am.....a fellow lover of metal. He reminded me that metal heads could still bond simply on a love of music. One of the first braveboarders I met in person and always fun to hang out with. RIP Rab. And this will surely be an epic thread. 7 more posts just as I was writing the above.

 Re: Rest in peace Rab
Wow. I'm stuck for words; Rab was as friendly and cheerful a BB'er as I ever met. He'll obviously be well missed around here and wherever else he haunted online - I can only imagine how he'll be missed among those close to him. RIP, and condolences to his loved ones.

 Re: Rest in peace Rab
Honestly, I knew this was coming. It was something I thought about randomly when browsing the board. Rab had mentioned it himself a couple times and I was worried. If I'm wrong and it wasn't of natural causes, then I apologize. Must've been hard on his heart if it was though.
I didn't know Rab, only talked to him via PM for a trade one time, but RIP dude.

WTF!!!?? Damn. I will always remember the two times I was lucky to meet him. I am glad my last memory of Rab was of seeing him in those videos having fun on that metal cruise ship.

 Re: Rest in peace Rab
Got a text message about this not too long ago. Ive been away from this board and community for a while, checking back here when Im bored and with the hockey pool. But Ive lost touch with many people, Rab being one of them. I was honored to call him a friend, and I cant say I can think of a moment when I felt any ill will towards or about him. Everytime Ive hung out with him were good times, always full of laughs. His desire to want to entertain is what truly made him unique, he always wanted to see people around him smile and he was good at catching some good laughs. He was the definition of the passion that makes metalheads proud to be who they are. The vacuum left by him is widespread and surely to affect a wide range of people, and yeah it may not have been a surprise to many people that he went the way he did but it doesn't take away from the fact that he was a kind hearted individual that deserved a better life.
I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for information on his funeral/memorial as Im not on facebook and don't have contact with too many people here anymore.

 Re: Rest in peace Rab
Absolutely awful. He was one of the first guys I met when I moved to Toronto, sweet human being introduced me to a lot of wonderful people and made me feel really at home. Hadn't really kept up with him in years, but still always though really highly of him. Rest in peace dude, you will be missed.

I agree 666% with everything in this post...I also have been away far too long and there's no excuse for it. I clicked on the board today to find information about Rab, but I've found myself looking at various other topics and the picture topic, and realizing, damn, here are some good friends I've missed. for Rab, but for those of us who have the honor of calling ourselves his friends...and every single one of you fuckers who knew him knows that the best way we could remember him would be to hoist some beers, crank some metal and celebrate our friendship with each other.

I'm very saddened to hear of the passing of Rab. I had the chance to meet him a few times over the years and he was always a barrel of laughs. I'm going to miss him. RIP

What terrible news. Rab had such a great reputation and his posts always cracked me up. He has gone too soon. My deepest regrets to his friends and family.

Only met him a few times over the years at shows and spoke with him via the board, but I agree with everything everyone here has said. A really nice, kind guy. I'll never forget how proud he was to show off his HIM leather trench coat to me at a HIM show years ago. Condolences to all of his friends and family. R.I.P. Rab

Oh my god, this is awful. I met him a couple of times at shows in the GTA, and Gabe and I once wound up sharing a cab with him after one of them. He was an awesome person with a heart of gold, and will be sorely missed by many. R.I.P. Rab.
