Yeah, he pitched a great game. Morrow too.

Only "great" for you. We should've taken two out of three, at least. :peeved:

Pretty good weekend.

Tigers look like they will score a decent football team's average points. The D-backs are the same D-backs that I saw most of last year if this first weekend is anything to go by.

The Indians should have won more than one game this weekend and the lack of hitting is a concern. I hope the relief squad can turn it around and be a key this year like they were last year.

Santos... 2 blown saves already. jesus fuck. Talk about deflating a team with a lot of promise very early. Unreal.

Being the pecimistic Toronto sports fan I am. I will start counting the blown saves that amount to losses now.

I'll get back when the game finishes. It is funny seeing all the people who don't give a fuck in the stands tonight though. I home opener at the Dome is the worst

He was horrendous. What was more hilarious than the save attempt was seeing two girls I know get a close up on TV towards the end of the game

Start the blown save = loss at...

At least Yu Darvish tanked in his debut... that makes me feel a little bit better. :) ... Too bad Texas is a team able to give run support though. What the hell is the Jays team batting average so far? Like .150?

The offense is definitely sputtering to start the season... starting pitching has been okay. I'm just hoping everything settles it... The great thing about baseball is they are right back at it tomorrow. A solid start from Drabek and a little bit of O and tonight is forgotten.

Still... an awful loss after such a great pitching performance.

Little things though. When the go ahead run scored, Bautista gunned the ball in.. Arencibia just misjudged/mishandled it. He might have had the out.

I was really hoping JP woulda gotten better at blocking pitches by now.

Well... Twins are in post-season form right now. :peeved:

How can you spend the off-season focused on improving offense and wind up with this? I know it's a long season, but it's going to feel even longer this year.

Tribe extends Carlos Santana, five years, $21 million.

Rangers extend Ian Kinsler, five years, $75 million.

Reds extend Brandon Phillips, six years, $72 million.

With Votto and Phillips, we can stop calling Cincinnati "small market" now.

Everyone claims to be small market unless they are New York, Boston or Los Angelas  ... oh and Chicago. Everyone else mostly cries 'small market' from time to time.

Santos with the save today and Ramero with an outstanding performance for his first win! A sigh of relief when it comes to Santos.

Pitching alone takes Philly out of "small market," but there's a difference between signing free agents and building a team and trying to buy a world series like NYY have for decades.

I would say there is a bigger difference when it comes to signing your own players as opposed to free agents. The Jays are always ripped for being cheap and not signs UFA's, but they always take care of their own players when contracts are up. The Jays like to pretend they are small market because they have a hard time getting people to the park (like 20 out of 30 teams at least). TV contracts in baseball make up a lot of the difference whereas a sport like hockey NEEDS gates.

WOO! Another great win today for the Jays, and a MUCH needed save from Santos. It's too bad they lost the home opener, but taking two games away from Boston in this series is fucking great!

Can't wait to be back in Rogers Centre on Saturday for the game against Baltimore

But don't forget - hockey needs solid ticket sales because they can't get a decent US television contract. If they were to get a few good TV deals lined up, gates would be a little less important.
