They're one of those foods I avoided for the longest time probably due to a seemingly societal-wide disgust with them for whatever reason.. lately I'm addicted.

Cut in half, topped with some spices, garlic, olive oil.. and baked. Can't go wrong.

I've tried them a couple of times, prepared differently. I didn't really care for them either time. to each their own though.

wasnt into them as a kid but love them now! never baked them before tho, i should give it a try.
also, i had this wicked side at emeril's table 10 in vegas; brussels sprouts with fuji apple and almond. it was sooooooo good even my mom liked it and she doesnt like brussels sprouts

I love Brussles sprouts, but I can understand why people don't. They're kind of bitter.

That'd be why that dish with the apple worked so well. It's about balance.

Just a little oil can round it out too. I usually roast mine and then toss them in oil and just a touch of vinegar with some sweet herbs and spices.

I have no idea how my mom makes her brussels sprouts/chestnuts with grainy mustard side so delicious. I am guessing butter, but I will never ask because I know I'm right....

I find a lot of people got turned off to certain things due to how their parents prepared them when they were growing up. This is especially common with fish, but also vegetables. Especially if their parents only served canned veggies, or not-nearly-fresh-enough-fish...as was the case in my house.

So I also used to hate brussels sprouts. Eventually I had them fresh and cooked properly and realized what I was missing. I now make a brussels sprout hash with bacon that has converted several haters.

I love re-educating people about food.

Especially myself.

Probably the only vegetable that I don't enjoy. Too bitter tasting.

Adding Cayenne pepper to French onion soup ended up being quite successful.

Seriously: A little oil, some sweet herbs and spices (sweet basil, mint, rosemary, tarragon, ginger), vinegar for some brightness. Roast them lightly to get a little caramelisation out of them (don't let them get more than a little brown or they get more bitter). If you really want, you can toss them with carrots or something similar to add more sweetness.

You could also try a little brown sugar or a molasses sauce. They truly are amazing veggies.

I should actually pick up some piping bags and piping bag accessories one of these days... and a torch.

I just cooked a whole chicken for the first time. And I did it in the slow cooker. Most succulent chicken ever!

Tried something new today.. cauliflower rice. Grated a head of cauliflower put it in a closed dish and microwaved for 5 minutes. No water added. Pretty damn good.

I know! That's what I had for dinner tonight, along with mashed potatoes, gravy, and carrots.

I had hummas for dinner tonight cause I wasn't all that hungry. The base stuff was store bought, but I punched it up with some basil, ginger, and cayenne. I spread it on pita with roasted Brussels sprouts.

All you folks who were ing at Brussels sprouts earlier are dumbpoops.

Brussel sprouts are great!

Next time you visit, I'll make you a batch.
