 Re: Food Obsession and Randomness!
There's a local restaurant that makes an amazing baked lasagna. It has a layer of pepperoni on top of the sauce and noodles, and then a whole bunch of cheese on the very top.

It's pizza with noodles instead of crust... it's barely lasagna, but it's really good, and absolutely heart-friendly (he said with laboured breath as his arteries chugged along at the pace of the QEW in rush hour).

 Re: Food Obsession and Randomness!
Pesto experiment was pretty successful, but I think I need some sort of blending/crushing gadget of some kind. Mincing and crushing all that basil by hand didn't make it easy to get the right consistency... I think it's time to take the plunge and get a Magic Bullet.
Anyway, the not-quite-smooth pesto went well with baked zucchini (marinated in olive oil and garlic) and tomaters, served up on whole-wheat fettucine and topped with a little mountain of ricotta.

 Re: Food Obsession and Randomness!
I just heard the greatest new term on Food Network. Some new host called "acid" (aka citrus, vinegar, wine) a "protein bully". As in, it will cook the seafood in the ceviche, or break down and tenderize a tough hoofed or beaked meat or cut of meat. Love it. Easiest rule ever.
Ohmygosh now he just called dark meat "hemoglobin meat". I think he might be my new favourite Food Network host.
Gotta find out his name and what the fuck this new show is about! He's like Alton Brown v2.0!

 Re: Food Obsession and Randomness!
He just said, "nibs and crags" about fucking chicken wings! Troy Johnson's Crave is officially my new favourite food show and I'm not even through the first episode. "If Buffalo wings flew to Korea on a spiritual quest...". Seriously, this fucker is nonstop with the vocabulary and metaphors yet so casual about it all. This is what television can be!

He just mentioned tweakers. Are you serious? "They keep that batter out of sight like the ugly child in an otherwise attractive family."

Satanic Miss wrote: He just mentioned tweakers. Are you serious? "They keep that batter out of sight like the ugly child in an otherwise attractive family." Last night I had a dinner party. We had a vegetarian guest coming, so I wanted most of the food to be vegetable-y, while normally I rely on plenty of meat for dinner parties. It was different, I had to be a bit more imaginative about what I cooked. Menu: Seekh kebab Chicken tikka Vegetable cutlets Mint dip Pulao rice Dal Grilled aubergine curry Marrow korma Tandoori prawns Bombay potatoes

Yes, I too would consider Necromancer worthy and desirable of consumption.

It was a fishing trip by float plane in north Saskatchewan with my dad - we'd been trying to get that together for years but somebody always died or got born or had a stroke. This year it finally came together. It was this place - check out the picture of that lake. How idyllic is that? http://www.erringtonlakelodge.com/
