 Re: Food Obsession and Randomness!
I'm completely addicted to this unique salsa/relish I've been making almost-weekly for over a month now. It has all the usual suspects: - Tomato - Onion - Pepper (in this case Poblano) - Acid (in this case lime juice, but sometimes a pinch of vinegar as well) - Salt and pepper (of course) But these unusual items give it a unique flavor...almost like a gazpacho: - Cucumber - Celery - Fresh and dried oregano - Whack of extra virgin olive oil Instead of dicing the veg, I slice most of them super thin. Comes out looking more like a salad than a salsa (which is good, because I'd be lying if I said I've never eaten it straight up with a fork ). Put it on a burger or grilled meats and experience tears of joy.

I could go for some fettucine carbonara... I'm not even hungry, I just want an overdose of cholesterol.

 Re: Food Obsession and Randomness!
I cooked a tri tip sirloin on the grill today. It is not a common cut of meat in these parts, and this was my first crack at it. Well, it was fucking amazing.
I dry rubbed it with garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, sea salt and pepper. After that, I grilled it over indirect heat with hickory smoke for a little over an hour. What a fine meal, wish it were more common around here.

 Re: Food Obsession and Randomness!
I was really expecting to be cooking for more than two tonight, so I made (how's this for randomness?):
- fried-crisp-then-roasted chicken thighs with a creamy, spicy, garlicky strawberry sauce swirled around the fucks.
- cilantro-heavy-red-pepper-and-tomato-sauced pasta, with more cilantro and provolone on top.
- a salad made out of red onion, fried eggplant, cunteloupe, red pepper, and roughly chopped cilantro, with a dressing made out of the red-wine, balsamic, sambal oelek, and caramelized onion reduction that I started the pasta sauce with, a bit more balsamic, honey, a shitload of black pepper, and thai basil.
and now I'm nomming down the rest of the salad hopefing people can come by and smell my breath.
