Awful list. I know it's hard to avoid the biggest bands getting the largest number of votes, but bands like Hammers Of Misfortune, Misery Index, and Dead Congregation way below piles of shit such as the new Testament and Judas Priest? c'mon

More popular bands will get well-ranked simply because so many more people heard their album. Considering how many metal albums came out this year, the fact that so many bands I like made it on the list at all is a pleasant surprise for me.

I would have said "Dropkick Traquillity". They're at the bottom of my list too, though, so... I only heard 15 albums from 2008 so the competition wasn't so stiff really.

Woah now, let's not get carried away and start bashing Dark Tranquillity! It may be best to stop before reaching #10 if Eluvetie starts to seep into your mind as a good choice.

Re: Braveboard Top Albums of 2008
My Favourite album is Dystopia's self titled. Too bad they aren't making anything more after that.
Others in no particular order... Not all are metal
Pest-Rest In Morbid Darkness I'm In A Coffin-One Final action Behemoth-Live Apostasy Have A Nice Life-Deathconciousness Lifelover-Konkurs(Not as good as erotik, but still worthwhile) Hypothermia-Gratoner(Again, not as good as their early more raw work, but still good)
I'll think of some more later...

Thanks for doing this again. Always interesting to look through the final list and individual lists and look for things that may have flown under my radar.

I could make a wicked 15 "not metal" music list for 08. It was a great year.

I'd have to give my vote for Opeth, Cynic, Meshuggah, and The Faceless. As far as i'm concerned musically, they have blown our mind with tasteful music and awesome riffs to headband to.

But the Faceless is easily one of the worst goddamn things shat onto this planet. I would take a swarm of locusts eating away my skin to listening to that band ever again.
