From what I remember, most of people thought that it was either a flaming turd at worst, and at best okay but not worth the over-a-decade-wait. People were expecting it to suck before it came out, anyway. I'm not surprised at the Metallica, though. The standards for that band were so low people were happy with Death Magnetic. Agreed on both counts. But still, being happy 'cause it doesn't suck doesn't mean it's worth a top entry.

Re: Braveboard Top Albums of 2008
2. Warrel Dane, Praises To The War Machine (9) 4. Bloodbath, The Fathomless Mastery (10) 5. Jeff Loomis, Zero Order Phase (24) 6. Eluveitie, Slania (42) 7. Opeth, Watershed (1) 9. Enslaved, Vertebrae (3) 10. Meshuggah, obZen (2) 11. Sahg, II (88) 12. Manilla Road, Voyager (57) 13. Dismember, Dismember (19) 14. King's X, XV (97)
Not terribly surprised that
1. Eliminator, Breaking The Wheel 15. Aanal Beehemoth, The Forest Paranoid
didn't make the list, despite making it onto a couple of others (one of whose wasn't even Holy Mary's! ) but I am a little surprised that
3. Biomechanical, Cannibalized 8. Hollenthon, Opus Magum
didn't get on there, considering the mixed but those-who-liked-it-liked-it-a-lot luv it got when they came out.
Thanks again for doing the list, LOAF!

Re: Braveboard Top Albums of 2008
Thanks Loaf! Surprises me to see Opeth with a mediocre release by their standards at #1. Are they really that good that they can produce a middling effort (for them) and still be tops? Still a good list in the top ten with a couple of scrubs (Metallica and Testament, two gigantic gaping anuses of albums). Ok, off to deal with the hemorrhoid...be well my metal compadres.

I had two on there also, but my choices weren't especially obscure. Just shitty.
Thank you, Lord of All Fire.

Re: Braveboard Top Albums of 2008
I'm glad to do this, it opens me up to a bunch of albums and bands I may have over looked or not even heard of. Like this year, for the past few days I've been listening to a lot of...
Bloodbath - The Fathomless Mastery Krallice – Krallice Harvey Milk - Life... The Best Game in Town Belphegor - Bondage Goat Zombie
Also one that didn't make the list
Wetnurse - Invisible City
