HAHA! I was actually surprised too at how many people put it in there lists. Also had no idea who Hail of Bullets was. That was my biggest surprise this year.

Great list!! I would have hoped Forefather was a bit more higher then 31's. I honestly thought it was one of the better releases of the year... oh well Thanks for doing this again this year!

Three off my list didn't make it, but I'm not surprised. Overall its not bad I suppose, even though I completely disagree with it (like everyone else ) Anyway... Its always cool to see how the combined tastes of the board add up. Nice job.

Bloodbath - Unblessing The Purity 88. Sahg – II
Those were all on my list, and I think for the first time ever, the overall top 2 are the same as my top 2. If Opeth hadn't hit it out of the park with an eclectic prog-death masterpiece, I would have chosen Meshuggah for sure. obZen slayed -- it's a total jackhammer of a record. Those two releases have jumped high into my all-time list... something that didn't happen with any '07 CD. Hail of Bullets was originally my 4th pick, then moved down a bit. As amazing as the crushing guitars, powerful drums and stellar songwriting are... those Lemmy-being-anally-raped vocals just kill it for me. Great to see Bloodbath in the top 10, even though I rated the live record ahead of The Fathomless Mastery. But then... I rated all three of the band's '08 releases high. Nice to see Nachtmystium get some love... I think that one could be a sleeper that people will appreciate more as the years go on. The Zimmershole record is the band's best yet. More than a metal comedy record, it's actually a damn fine metal record, period. If it was a touch more serious, I'd say it's what SYL's The New Black should have been. And Sahg... well, they stole the show for me with the debut in '06. This time around, I found the record slipping farther and farther down my top 15 list as the year went on. A final listen at year's end moved it up a bit. Still, I hope the next one is a bit better.

Re: Braveboard Top Albums of 2008
Good job as always, LoaF! I always look forward to seeing the year-end results, and this year I was quite surprised! I think I may now have to check out the Opeth disc. And Hail Of Bullets too... I was already mildly interested in hearing it, but now I think I might just do it sooner rather than later...

As usual, my tates vary from what's at the very top of that list (Opeth and Meshuggah?? zzzzz), but I have a lot more in the Top 50 than usual. Thanks for all the work. Yeah, how the f did Gn'R make the Top anything? That album is a steaming pile of shitty shitty crap crap.

Re: Braveboard Top Albums of 2008
Those that made it: 1. Tyr - Land (86) 3. The Monolith Deathcult - Trivmvirate (65) 4. Moonsorrow - Tulimyrsky (54) 5. Equilibrium - Sagas (69) 6. Ihsahn - angL (11) 7. Meshuggah - Obzen (2) 8. Amon Amarth - Twilight Of The Thunder God (6) 11. Keep Of Kalessin - Kolossus (66) 13. Warbringer - War Without End (83) 15. Eluveitie - Slania (42)
And those that did not: 2. Arkona - Ot Serdca K Nebu (DNR) 9. Behemoth - Ezkaton (DNR) 10. SIG:AR:TYR - Beyond The North Waves (DNR) 12. The Sword - Gods Of The Earth (DNR) 14. Hectic Patterns - Random (DNR)
Not really surprised- I'd hoped to see the Arkona record on the final list, but it made it on to a bunch of 2007 lists because of the Euro release so I don't think many people counted it. Glad to see TMDC, Tyr, and Moonsorrow made a showing.

Re: Braveboard Top Albums of 2008
It's really disappointing to see Opeth get the top spot. They're such a mediocre band now and so is their newest album.
