I'm stunned. Even though I never had the privilege of meeting him, he seemed like an absolutely wonderful person. My deepest condolences to Renee, his family, and all of his friends.

RIP :(

I logged onto myspace on a whim and saw all this RIP Adrian stuff...oh, my god, they would never put that stuff up if it was a joke, so I logged in here and my fears were confirmed. :( I just can't believe he is gone. I am on the phone with JennyGreenTeeth right now to let her know the news. She can't log in right now. She is floored. She says her heart goes out to his friends and family, especially Winston and Noel.

This is horrible news. I can't even process this. All the silly mornings we shared over cam and coffee...all the funny moments we shared over the phone. All the pranks and crazy schemes that were a hoot and a half. I will never forget the Aristocrats in the hotel room in Toronto. I am completely stunned. Ade was good people through and through and he will be horribly missed.

Post Re: Adrian 'The Energizer' Bromley - Rest In Peace
In the spirit of sharing some memories of cheerier times...I think my most memorable call from him came when I was in Toronto and browsing through the BMV bookstore with Solarfall, and my phone started buzzing.

Brian Wright.

Hey Brian, it's Adrian!
Hey A-
What the hell are you doing in Toronto?
Well I-
I've invited you out to New York like six, seven times!
Yeah, but-
Well you picked a good time to come out, because I'm in town too!
What? Really?
Yeah, I had to come back into the country to renew my visa.
Holy shit, I had no idea you were going to be here. We've got to hook up, get beer!
Yeah, man!
I've got...let's see...tomorrow afternoon's bad...
I'm just kidding, I'm still in New York.
What?
I mean, I'm coming back in a couple of months to renew my visa.
Why would you kid about that?
Where are you?
I'm at the BMV bookstore with Danielle, uh, Solarfall, and-
Oh yeah, Solarfall! So are you two a couple?
Uh-
Come on. Come on.
Well she's right...here...
Okay. Just say yes...or no.
I...don't think it's a yes or no thing right now.
Okay, that's a no.

Later that week I was told MPB stories by Auciello that made my sides ache. Bad timing, that the three (to date) times I was in Toronto, he was in New York. Never did get to see him in NYC, and obviously, I totally wish I did now.

Man ... I love reading all these great stories about Adrian.

I loved the fact that if you never met the legend in person, he still treated you like a good friend. Now, how many people will you EVER meet like that in your lifetime?

God that's so true.

Adrian had time for EVERYBODY. He made it a daily occurence to reach out to everyone. Even if it was just for 2 minutes, he would take time for you.

I'm gonna miss those phone calls.

Post Re: Adrian 'The Energizer' Bromley - Rest In Peace
Well, to say I'm floored would be an understatement.

I casually logged on to facebook and noticed all this "R.I.P Adrian" stuff. I thought in some way in was a joke, seeing as Adrian loved to joke around and pull practical jokes, but my fears were confirmed. I cried for a good 5 minutes when I found out.

Adrian was at one point, one of my best friends in the world. I just wish when I moved that we had kept more regular contact, but we still managed to talk to each other once in a while.

I met Adrian through this board. I mentioned to him that I'd be attending a Nitemare show at The Reverb, and he made a point to ask what albums I'd like, which shocked me, but he brought me a bunch of promos. Right from there I knew he was a top-notch, friendly guy who'd do whatever he could for you.

From then on, we hung out quite a bit, and through him I got to know and become friends with a lot of people on the board like FIS, HBM, New Machine, etc.

He always got me in to a lot of shows for free just based on using his hook-ups for the guest lists at the door, which always made me feel great considering he could've done that for lots more people.

The thing that showed how great of a person he was was when we were hanging out, having a beer before a show (one of the many we attended), and I was mentioning how I wanted to get in touch with a person that was handing out a zine to see if they'd need some reviews done. He asked why I never asked him, and I told him I had no formal experience, but he gave me a few CD's and said "keep these, listen to them, and give me 150 to 200 words on each album and e-mail it to me, we'll go from there". I couldn't believe that, I thought it was very cool of him. Next thing you know, I was writing for Unrestrained! and got to realize one of my dreams. He didn't hesitate at all to give me a big story, like Soilwork or King Diamond. The trust he had in me was amazing and I'll never forget it. I stopped writing after a few years but he never held it against me.

I can't count the number of times he let me crash at his place (sometimes with an alterior motive to help him organize his mountain of vinyl  ), and we'd watch movies, or go out and eat, or anything else. He was always happy to show me around Toronto.

I was very happy to hear he found Renee, and I know how in love he was with her and was looking forward to getting back to New York to be with her. I talked to him on the phone a couple of weeks ago briefly, and it was his classic phone call where he fit in an hour's conversation in one hour, as many have noted. I told him that I'd be moving back to the GTA soon and we'd have to hang out again. I'm beyond upset that I'll never get to do that with him again.

Adrian, you were the best friend a guy could ask for. You were the most giving, trusting and loving individual I've probably ever known, and I feel very rich for having known you.

Thank you for all the experiences I got to share with you, and for helping me grow as a person. I hope to see you on the other side on of these days. I love you buddy.

My condolensces go out to Winston and Sarah, his legions of friends, and to Renee, the love of his life.

Pure shock.

I worked closely with Adrian when he was employed with The End Records for many years. He always did a great job for us, and we have much of our high profile exposure to thank him for.

37 is WAY to young to go.

I don't remember when I first met Adrian, but I'll always remember him by this one thing. A few of us were out for beer and wings once and Adrian ordered these really really spicy chicken wings. He was cautioned by the server that the wings were inhumanly hot and that no one is capable of eating more than one of them before screaming in agony. So he went ahead and ordered them and then proceeded to eat most of them, even though he had tears running down his face and he drank about two pints of beer to wash them down. I personally thought that was crazy, but that's the kind of man he was. He would get this idea to do things that everyone thought no one could do, and he would go ahead and do them regardless of the hardships.

Here's to Adrian and living life to the fullest!

I was extremely saddened to hear about this earlier today. The Magic Hoof called my cell and left the message while I was at work, and when I checked my messages, I was shocked.

I didn't know him all that well, but he was a super nice and friendly fellow the two times I did meet him (Progpower USA V and Heathen Crusade II). I had a lot of fun hanging out with him those times. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

R.I.P. Adrian.

:o :o

I chated with him at the wota/woods/WA show and he seemed in good spirits.

Although I was not close with him, Adrian has been nothing but cool to myself and wota for as long as I have known him. He supported WOTA in a time where very few would.

I remember one time he called up my cell phone ( I have no clue how he got the number) to tell me he really enjoyed our album. I thought that was much more cool then sending a MSN or email message.

His unwavering commitment to metal is comendable, respectable and inspiring.

Cheers to Adrian

I digged up some photos Adrian took at the Heathen Crusade 2 and then sent us. Hanging out with him was a blast (although we paid for it the next day - what a hangover!!).

know what...despite the sadness over Adrian's passing, I find it extremely fitting that so many people are sharing stories that bring smiles to faces. Not only was he totally dedicated to metal, but it seems like it was his unwritten destiny to spread joy, laughs, (occasionally super secret information about upcoming shows, rendering it completely un-secret  ), and a warmth of character that is rare among people.

 to a great man.

I hope that by the time I go I will have touched even a fraction of people's hearts the way this man has. Rarely have I seen someone in the metal scene so widely known, and loved. I've briefly met him a couple of times here in NY, mainly whenever he was at B.B. King's, and he always struck me as a great person. He was a pleasure to rap with about music and he was always ready to let you know anything you didn't already about any given band.

I'm really, truly and deeply sympathetic to those who knew him closely. Although there is now a hole in your heart that can never be filled always remember to mend it with the smiles, love and laughter you have shared.

You know, a lot of these famous people death threads go up on the Board... I thought this was one of them. You know, the people whom we don't actually know. RIP Dimebag, RIP this guy, RIP that guy. I didn't know Adrian's last name or him personally so I didn't realize this was his thread until now.

But I am very saddened by his passing.

Let that be known.

I'm not usually for these trendy en-masse avatar changes, but I will make my avatar black until the new year for Adrian. I encourage you all to join me.
