First problem with that film was, for me, when Catwoman sided with Batman.

Why? It's not like it's unprecedented. Catwoman sides with him just as often as she doesn't in other Batman stories.

Yeah but she does it because of a change of heart and because for the greater good, blah blah. She's better as a character whose primary motivator is self-interest. And that wasn't the Catwoman this movie presented.

That isn't unprecedented either, but I agree that she's better played as Machiavellian.

Also I have a hardon for Pfeiffer Catwoman and on screen, I have yet to see better.

The characters in the film were good, especially the lead and her father. But storywise, I thought it was the most straightforward and least interesting Pixar film in a while.

That's a good point, and I hadn't really thought about it until you mentioned it. So, thanks for ruining it.

Jerk.

But actually, with that in mind, I think the film was really carried by the personalities of the characters. And the bear fight.

Those really are Pixars two strengths: well-written characters and bear fights.

How does its bear fights compare to this bear fight?

Was on Sundance Channel. I dunno. I only half paid attention, but I still learned some things, I guess. Maybe.

I don't know, actually. If you take in info you hadn't heard or read before, but you're like "I'm not sure how much of this I believe" did you learn?

Anyway, it was interesting enough, but my guess is that anyone already into black metal more than my "I like album Y by band X" already knew most of what I found out about.

By the way, I know album Y is when band X sold out, but I don't care. Album F is just fucking noise, and it sucks.

I wonder if there is really any more information than what was in Lords of Chaos. If so, I might give it another try. I just remember being really bored with the first ten minutes or so and giving up shortly after.

All I'll say is, it's not a movie you watch for information. Kind of like The Misanthrope. It's a fun watch, but if you want to learn about the inner workings of Darkthrone and Tyrant Syndicate Productions or details of the life of Ted "Nocturno Culto" Skjellum, uh, too bad.

I bought The Misanthrope. Worst piece of shit metal film I've ever seen. Soundtrack wasn't even metal. Bah.

Never saw Lords of Chaos.

In fact, I probably wouldn't have watched this if it didn't come on automatically. I was too lazy to get up and get the remote.

I just wanted to see what Amy Smart and Selma Blair were up to. On that level, it did not disappoint - it demonstrates that both Amy Smart and Selma Blair are still working.

But it is not a good movie. You know, THEY SEEMED LIKE NORMAL NEIGHBOURS, everybody has a dark secret, there's a criminal project at work whose payoff is hard to believe like in Die Hard: With A Vengeance and doesn't even require a mercenary army.

Basically plays out like one of those mid-90's direct-to-video sexy thrillers without any of the sexy. Which I thought was the whole point, so I don't know why anybody wanted to make this movie.

First time watching it last night. Highly unlikely there will be a second watch.

I feel like this movie was secretly bankrolled by someone connected to Battlefield: Earth just to make it seem better.

It was still better than that piece of shit "Skyline" that came out at around the same time. Not much, but at least that's. well, something, I guess.

I turned off Battle LA before the 30 minute mark, but didn't really have a problem with Skyline until the end. I knew Skyline wasn't gonna be the best movie ever.
