i haven't gotten to see as many flyer games as i'd like this year, but if rinaldo could keep his head for more than 2 minutes at a time he's a pretty decent player. problem is, apparently he can't. i still think he's better than carcillo ever was, and i've liked what i've seen from him more than mcginn, but i haven't seen a flyers game in at least 2 weeks, so i've missed any of the wins he's played in, particularly when he was supposed to have been playing well skating with schenn/voracek.

Offensively, I don't see how Rinaldo looks better than Carcillo.
Defensively could obviously be debated, but I think they are a good comparison. Rinaldo is obviously tougher, but in no way would I agree that Rinaldo is better offensively than Carcillo. I personally don't see Rinaldo ever hitting 20pts in a season, I could be wrong.

can't speak for chicago, but he was afford a fair amount of top 2 line time skating with richards (who the fuck knows why, but anyway) and barely broke 20 points. i'm also willing to bet that in miserable fucking phoenix, he saw more than his fair share of top 6 minutes. rinaldo's never skated higher than the 3rd line.

...and I still don't see Rinaldo ever getting 20pts in a season, regardless of where he plays. The reason Carcillo is in the top 6 on some teams is because he has the offensive skill set to play with those players. Last year in Chicago he was on pace for 30+ pts and didn't look out of place playing with Hossa and Kane/Toews.

Rinaldo has only reached 20+ pts once in his entire career, including all of his OHL and AHL time.

Nobody has traded draft picks yet, so make sure to remember this:

If you trade for a guy who was kept this year, that player can only be kept for next season, not the next two. Make sure to take this into consideration with any trades that are made.

So for instance if I trade Crosby to somebody, he can only be kept for next season since I kept him this year and used one year of his eligibility. If I trade Henrik Sedin, he can be kept for next season and the following season since he was obtained through the draft.

I doubt anybody will be trading for picks quite this early yet, but it's better to make sure that everybody is aware of this so nobody makes a trade that they wouldn't have made otherwise.

As far as your first point goes... I'm hyper competitive, but mostly against myself. I tend to keep it to myself for the most part, but I'm the asshole who expects to nail it every time, regardless of what I'm doing. It's a bad habit I picked up in college: look at every assignment breakdown, find every single point that has to be hit, and make sure I hit 'em all. Anything less than 100% wasn't good enough for me. It's a fucking great habit for work, but when I find it carrying over into hobbies it gets to drain my sanity
