[img]Tonight i picked up a bottle of Radical Road Canny Man Wee Heavy Scotch Ale. I can barely find any info about this beer, but I am looking very forward to trying it. What I've read on bartowel suggests it is quite smokey. And the packaging is outrageous... bottle is paper wrapped. It's their first beer. Keep an eye out for it. It's $10.95 though. I'll post some pics when i crack it, likely tomorrow.

Thanks for posting this. I was passing by Summerhill coincidentally a few day ago when I said, "I'ma go in there and grab some of that... whatever the fuck Blasphomet posted.'

lol, I'll probably crack er tonight!

Finally topped off the last bottle from the Beau's brewery mixed pack we had over our most recent Christmas. It was alright. I'm not a huge fan of pale ales. Regardless if that was the beer that took over the porter fad that originally started the beer craze. I found that the Belgian yeast really complimented the pale ale'ness of it very well. I forgot about the possibility of sediment and there she drizzled to the bottom of my glass. It was obviously the type of sediment that gave it somewhat of a dryness to the taste, but it was far from overwhelming. Sediment or no sediment, this beer was OK. I gave it a 6.5 / 10. It's been a while since I've done a review since I've moved. Holy shit are my cheeks looking fat. Time to get on that P90 workout! Rawwwrr!

Its a bit pricey of a place but it looks like a solid place. It even has Horse meat on the menu in 2 different ways.

Killer place dude. May just pop in. Thanks!

This beer was off the chain.

Pretty crazy eh? SO much stuff going on in that brew!

I really really liked it. Excellent beer. It had the most awesome hint of black licorice for an after taste as well.

Disappointing. I'll be curious to hear others opinions.

I just had this last night, and I'm echoing pretty much exactly what you said. The strange thing is it said it won the Gold Medal at the Beer Awards in Chicago for this. Must've been a slow year. So now I've had a great one by them (ESB), and this and the RIS were underwhelming to say the least.

@ Bleeding Eardrums

Haha, indeed.

I drank one during each episode of American Horror Story, and haven't had one since the season ended, so, it's been a few weeks since I've had one.

Still delicious, even without all of the murder and general psychotic debauchery.

Thr Weihenstephaner was really good, but I didn't get much of a Bock out of it. It's my first attempt at a Weizenbock so was I expecting something more? Had the Shipyard too and I still love this stuff.

This was some seriously interesting stuff... it was so peaty, it was almost like drinking a cold scotch, without the alcohol burn. It was pretty good, and I'd recommend it for the adventurous. I'll drink it again, and allow it to age awhile before I do.

My folks were up in Barrie again recently, they go quite often to visit friends, so i always tell them to let me know if they go to the brewery. and they scored me this glass, along with a beauty of a regular sized beer snifter (this one being smaller for the BNL) so I cracked one of the two bottles i still have. As chocolatey and delicious as before. Easily the most chocolatey beer there is, or at least that I've ever had.

Image

I also requested a couple bottles of the Matador Imperial IPA aged on cedar. Should be interesting and I'm really looking forward to it. I'll drink it this week. I hope for everyone it becomes available at the LCBO, but as of now it's only at the brewery.

On a positive note...

As some of us know I ran into some issues with the posting of my beer reviews about 1 year ago. They kept showing up as duplicates. I think maybe they just started to have the same end times, so it thought they were duplicates or something. The only way I could have fixed it was by starting to edit my videos and well... that's not my style baby! I'm the onedertaker! lol.

Anyways, to make a long story short. I noticed some massive youtube updates and I thought "ah, what the heck, maybe they fixed this duplicating bs." So last night I started uploading about five videos that are easily a year old. . . I woke up this morning and sure enough they are all still uploading, but most importantly they are working! Here's to many more beer reviews!

I think that winning a medal at those things is often based on making a beer that is good, and follows the classic hallmarks of a certain style. A boring IPA might be a better example of the traditional IPA style than a fancy one with 5 different hops all added at different points. I find that solid but sort of boring beers win a lot of these medals to be honest. I also think that some of these contests are rigged, and some of them are just little rinky-dink things in reality, but most consumers don’t know that so winning them makes for good marketing.

You're on to something here. It's possible that many award winning scenarios are based off of a general public's consensus of how they think they would find the beer. In this case, everybody would dig it. It was kind of a bland but nutty ipa.
