I picked up a six pack of this last night. It was my first time having it in quite a while, and it was actually better than I remember. Solid beer from a solid brewery.

i didnt like that stuff much at all. granted i only had it once. should probably try it again.

How long ago did you have it? I believe that they changed the recipe at some point to keep up with the influx of hugely hopped IPAs and double IPAs. I think that it’s a good beer, and slightly different than a lot of other big hop IPAs. I don’t buy it often, but this last time I liked it a lot better than I remembered. It seems like most people that like hops would at least enjoy it, but at the same time I can list a bunch of similar stuff that I like better.

Wicked!

Just left from the lcbo. I broke my Innis & Gunn glass on Saturday and the Holiday gift pack with the glass I broke was already on the shelf waiting for me!

There was also Unibroue Brewery - IMPOSSIBLE on the shelves as well as the Belgian mix pack that I love so much.

Will be checking out the big LCBO close to me soon after I finish a lot of the beers I have collected.

Their Stormking Imperial Stout is really good.

Checked out the LCBO at Eglinton and Yonge and damn they have a pretty good selection of gift packs. Thinking about grabbing the European pack, for like $20.00 not quite sure if I wanna spend that. Grabbed another Craftsman Chocolate Oatmeal Stout and a bottle of Samuel Smith's Winter Ale.

I noticed an Innis & Gunn spiced rum finish the other day too. Will need to try it, since i don't think i ever have.

I'm looking forward to the unibroue beer. Pretty sure the LA FIN DU MONDE is readily available all the time at the beer store. Maybe I'm wrong though. I still have one of these from last year... no real plans on when to drink it, as again, it supposedly ages fantastically...

I was so sad because their recent special edition porter that was released a while back rolled off of the table on my balcony and smashed right before my eyes before I ever got to try it. Truly a disaster. I had the new Innis & Gunn mix pack last night and I would like to update you all with the following. This mix pack was different from last years. Sure, there was the regular that everyone knows, but they changed the other two. Last year they had a Winter Ale and Spiced Rum, something like that. they were great! Now, they have Highland Cask and a Porter that used a fancy name to describe the black liquorish (fuck spelling) effect. Surprisingly, they were both not enjoyable. That mix pack goes down in history as my least favorite of theirs. . . but I got my glass back!!! :m:

I remember you saying you weren't a fan of the Belgian pack. I think you said the same about the St Peter's Winter Ale? That's also back on the shelf again. I gotta pick up that Impossible beer after work today. Hopefully it doesn't roll off my balcony table.

I agree on the price factor, but I never regret it. I only when it's the third of fourth time I'm buying it that season, lol. And they have two seperate packs, so that's about $40, but hey... you could have bought that uber Ola Dubh 18 that Birdog posted on here. In Toronto at lcbo that bottle is $18.99 for 335ml

:)

I paid $11 for the 18. Still pricey, but, not as pricey as the 30 or 40.

Yeah, i do like the belgian strongs, but like i said, they aren't my favourite, so i guess i'm more particular... So it will be interesting to try these canadian versions of the style.

Do you mean Unibroue La Terrible? I don't see anything on the site marked as 'Impossible'. :) I plan on picking up a couple bottles of the 'Terrible', one to age. Also a couple of La Fin Du Monde.

It looks like some of the best from last year won't be returning. My fave being the St Ambroise Russian Imperial Stout. Haven't been able to find out anything about it returning this year, which is why i'm hesitant to drink the couple i have from last year... I have one of the Sam Adams Triples left too from last year, but haven't heard anything about that. Tonight i will list the beers i have left over from last year for sure. Maybe you guys can convince me to drink them.

Oh yah hey you're right! 12, 18, 30 and 40. I still think there was another age in there. Maybe perhaps 16?

Fuck, wanna hear what happened to me? My previous super got busted for going into peoples apartments and stealing stuff. That cock sucker stole my special edition sam adams bottle. You know, those special seasonal cask editions?

I'm only realizing this now. I've never drank it and I've never seen it since.

BASTARD! And you may be right about La Terrible, I had a glance at it and then took off in a hurry.

Yup! That's the one! And we can never get it back ever again.

You know what else I realized? That's the same super that sold me that laptop. . . . remember my laptop story? Now I'm beginning to think that it was a good thing I didn't share too many of those photo's. Maybe he stole it from the girl. He was probably the stupid idiot that deleted the stuff of the desktop thinking he was wiping the hd clean. Maybe she wasn't the one who was silly enough to think she deleted all her files by deleting the files on the desktop. Maybe her photos were stolen! I am now great full that I didn't do what basically any other 'guy' would do with those types of photos. :nana:

Because I believe I read about them somewhere. Wherever it was it said that the cask editions are once in a life-time releases.

Last night I snagged me a 2012 edition of the beer above. It was amazing. My gf tasted banana's in there. Pretty crazy.

A good trappist right here!

I have yet to grab that trappist but seen it around a lot. I will at some point.

The Vintage Ale... i thought you don't like barley wines? It must be real good for you to like it. :) Just waiting it to make its way near me.

I tasted the barley, but it has started to grow on me more and more. It's not overwhelming like the one that made me throw up on camera many moons ago.

I saw that 2012 Vintage on the shelf and was wondering about it now and I am more intrigue to get it. I have the trappist in my fridge right now.

Recommendation. Pour your chilled trappist into a glass. Feel free to try it of course, but let it sit till it reaches room temperature. Much tastier.

What kind was it?

I picked up a Mill Street 2012 to age. Apparently they made it different this year, aged in Jack Daniels Whiskey barrels for 6 months.

I will pick up another to drink, but I'm really wanting to try saving one for like 5 years and seeing what it's like. I've got a few barley wines aging now. As I'm sure you can tell, i've become very interested in trying to age some beer.

Here's the list of beer I have had aging for 6 months to a year so far, with a few very recent pick-ups... if anyone cares.

From LCBO:

- St-Ambroise Russian Imperial Stout x 2
- Nogne O Russian Imperial Stout (my personal favourite from last year)
- Southern Tier Choklat
- Southern Tier Creme Brulee
- Southern Tier Mokah (recent pick up)
- Dieu du Ciel Solstice d'Hiver
- Sam Adam's New World Tripel
- Mikkeller Frelser
- Unbroue Grand Reserve 17
- Unibroue La Terrible (picked up only yesterday along with another to drink)
- Brooklyn Monster Ale Barley Wine
- Mill Street Barley Wine 2012 (recent pick up)

From the US:

- Stone Double Bastard
- Stone Imperial Russian Stout
- Great Divide Chocolate Oak Aged Yeti
- Southern Tier Java

I thought about whether or not to age the Southern Tier ones, but upon research and opinions, it is sort of mixed... some prefer them aged a year or two or more when the flavours are a little more subtle... some like them fresh so that the chocolate/coffee etc. flavours are right up front. The only way I'll find out is to try it myself.
