Re: NOW DRINKING - BEER SNOBBERY VOL. 4
This was one deliciusly solid beer. Everything from the smell to the taste was delicious fruit. Plum, raisin, cherry, red apple. I loved that cherry and rep apple i got it from it, as i usually am not a fan of the darker fruity taste of raisin and plum. These just seemed more more... nice. 100% recommend this: Had this one this afternoon. Decent, but not worth the price imo. Not sure where they get off selling this one for almost twice as much as the Bog Water and Beaver River. Doesn't make much sense to me. I probably won't buy it again next year (mostly because of the price). But not bad by any means, just boring i guess... I couldn't anything interesting about it:

Re: NOW DRINKING - BEER SNOBBERY VOL. 4
The fact this beer is i think their most expensive yet makes no sense at all to me.
Ah well, like i said, really no biggie. I just won't be buying it again unless the price drops.
I'll always give their beers at least one shot, though.

Re: NOW DRINKING - BEER SNOBBERY VOL. 4
First time posting in this thread, I've been getting pretty snobby about my beer lately so why not? Today I have: First impressions are quite good, this is my first chocolate stout and I rather enjoy it. Has a really nice finish and not nearly as heavy as I thought it would be. Burning Blade got me into this beer, It has pretty much replaced all the shitty domestic lagers I used to drink like Moosehead (I can never go back) but I wish I could find it in bottles. Burst Command Til War told me this was her favourite beer I believe, I have not drank any since we hung out last year but I picked some up today. Wonder if it will be as good as I remember it being..

Re: NOW DRINKING - BEER SNOBBERY VOL. 4
Picked up a 4 pack of this last night. I wanted to try it on draft about a month ago when I was at the brew pub but they were out at the time. Found it in bottles last week, and finally got around to picking it up last night and drank a few. It's good, but I wasn't super impressed. Although, the two I drank last night were both straight from the bottle. I expect that it will be better with a good pour and a better temperature (it was too cold).

I think that your assessment of that stout is just about what I said when I tried it. I think that most of their stuff is good but not great. The Dortmunder Gold (maybe my top warm weather session beer) and a couple of the seasonal/limited ones that they do in four packs really stand out, but most of their stuff is just good. Nothing wrong with good beer though. I grabed a six pack of this at the butcher shop today, it's still great. I will go to a more beer focused store tomorrow and get something less common place.

That pretty much is exactly how I feel about Great Lakes as well, although I can't speak on behalf of Dortmunder Gold since I don't remember the last time I had it. I get Edmund Fitzgerald from time to time when I want a porter with more roasted/smokey flavor. That's the only one I've bought with any regularity over the past few years. My usual go to porters tend to lean more toward the chocolate notes so getting something roastier is a nice change of pace.

Re: NOW DRINKING - BEER SNOBBERY VOL. 4
I agree about the Edmund Fitzgerald, it’s a good porter for when I want something dry with that roasted malt flavor. It’s the only one of their core line outside of the Dortmunder that I buy often. Get a six pack of that Dortmunder on some hot day this summer, that’s where it shines. Great beer.

I am going to need to dig into the back of the fridge to find something that I can use to step down from this one into the IPAs that I picked up. Don’t even know if I would be able to taste the session that I just bought after something so strong. I had this on tap tonight at the BBC. Excellent brew!

Re: NOW DRINKING - BEER SNOBBERY VOL. 4
Hey everyone. I haven't heard anything about this from anyone. Probably because a lot of us have given up on the beer store :P... Since my brother has moved in with me trips to the beer store has become a must because we are usually splitting 24's. This; however, only comes in a twelve pack. It's quite pricey... $24 for the twelve pack. It is hands down the best mix pack I've had of this winter season. If you are interested, I recommend that you pick it up fast because the people that have caught on have been sucking the last bit them dry from the beer store. So, there are four types of beers in here. Allow me to explain my experiences with each of them individually. Mind the appearance of the head. The one above appears to have been left out for too long. The smell of maple was very obvious when I took a whiff of this one. I have no freaking idea what Kitsilano was. I found it to be nutty, nice and roasted and with a hint of maple. The reason this beer stood out to me so much was because my least-favorite type of beer is cream ales recently for some reason. I could still take the cream ale in this beer, but the other flavors made it so much better than I ever could have imagined. The beer above is easily their most popular here in Toronto. Why? Because it's the only one that is sold in the lcbo in the form of a six pack. It came as a surprise to me. It too also had a nutty taste and the essence of pale ale stood out as well. That's pretty much all I picked up from it. There you have it people. Above, we have a lager. This was their approach at making a basic lager. I'm not generally a fan of lagers that don't stand out to me. The reason why this one stood out to me so much was because it had the most pleasant after-taste I've ever had from a lager. I gave it the best rating I've ever given a lager before. 9/10. Now, I was saving the best for last. THIS was easily the best beer out of the entire pack. It came as the biggest surprise. I read Winter Ale and the thoughts of winter spics came to mind; however, this one came with a surprise. You know that Funnel Blower that a lot of us hated? Not primarily for the vanilla taste itself, but I remember a lot of people complaining more about everything else about that beer. Another thing too. . . a lot of u are getting sick of pumpkin beers. I think that the nutmeg is just starting to get to us. Our body is starting to reject it or something, lol. Anywho.... As you can tell from the image, this appears to be a dark beer, but if you look really closely you can see that it's a dark brown color, rather than leaning more towards black. The reason this beer took me off guard was because in my opinion (having everything I have just said about it in mind) It had the perfect balance of vanilla and nutmeg. It also had a really nice woody flavor to it. I could be confusing the woodyness of this beer with the woodyness of the maple beer because it's been a few days since I've had them but DAMN it was good. If it came by the six pack I'd always have one in my fridge. A lot of people may not find this to be a session-able beer. In that case, during a day of beer drinking a couple a day amidst whatever other beers we would be drinking would easily be acceptable. So there you have it folks. BUY THIS SHIT! rate the mix pack as a whole you say? 8.5/10

Re: NOW DRINKING - BEER SNOBBERY VOL. 4
This IPA is great as well. Incredibly tasty, refreshing, floral, lots of citrus, , bitter hop finnish, just beautiful. It could have been 'overhyped' as someone mentioned, but I made sure not to let that skew my opinion. I thought it was excellent. In Canada, only comparable to the Hawaiian Style IPA, which is also my favourite up here. This may be the best IPA we've had at the LCBO from the states. - This one was very nice too, but like the Dogfish Head 60 minute i brought back from the states, it almost reminded me of an american pale ale like the Tankhouse Ale than it did an IPA. Maybe that is just because of my preference in IPA styles due to ingredients.

Re: NOW DRINKING - BEER SNOBBERY VOL. 4
This beer was really something special. Being a sour ale, it lived up to it. Seriously sour and tart, very funky. Loved it, and surprising so did a couple others that tried it with me (a couple also hated it). Quite a bit darker in colour than I figured as well. I picked up another to age, since apparently sour/wild ales can age for a long, long time, and very well. Definitely not for everyone, but really incredible to me: - This one i also enjoyed a lot. A fantastic tripel and very, very rereshing. I will be buying more of this while it's around:

Re: NOW DRINKING - BEER SNOBBERY VOL. 4
Some random thoughts on the beer that I have had so far tonight.
The Iron Throne Blond is a good beer. I an not an expert on Belgian styles, but I think that it probably falls into the category of a farmhouse ale. Solid beer, and on par with Omegang’s regular brews.
The Belgian Yeti was interesting. I liked it, but not as much as the regular Yeti. I think that it’s a cool experiment, but maybe not something that I would go out of my way to get again.
Some dick swapped one of my Imperial Stouts out of the four pack for an Old Curmudgeon. Old Curmudgeon rocks, so no big deal. I really did want all 4 of those stouts though.
I had Southern Tier X2 IPA, and Ithaca Flower Power on tap before dinner. Have had both many times, and love them.
