At a .273 lifetime average and a Gold Glove McGwire gets in with 500+ homers. Moreover, the longer that MM works as a reputable hitting coach, it only adds to his credentials. I'd struggle with Sosa, he's got the homer numbers, but that's about all going for him. If the writers weigh the 'non-playing' aspects of the vote heavier then there's no chance he ever gets in. I think out of those 4 major players in dispute, he's the one that 100% doesn't get in. Personally, I'd vote McGwire, Bonds, and Clemons.

Batting average isn't a good measuring stick, and gold gloves are completely meaningless.
