Thanks SMiss and TRab!!

I have discovered the most diabolically good venison sausages at our local shop, they come in caramelised red onion flavour or leek and onion flavour and they are just to die for.

Image Not sure what to make of this. It's in Canada now.

On a separate note, I sure do love chocolate Cheerios.

 That is basically the opposite of the Toronto pizza standard. We now have 3 pizzerias that are certified by the Neopolitan organization that is the pizza equivalent of being a certified champagne or whatever. They have the ovens custom built in Naples and shipped over, and the ingredients and techniques have to be very specific and to code. No more than 3 toppings per pizza, extremely thin, crispy crust, no slices, just served as a flatbread basically, which you can cut yourself or just rip apart.

Pizzeria Libretto was the first to be designated by the VPN in Toronto. Sort of pretentious but unfathomably delicious in its simplicity:quality ratio.
Quote:
Pizzeria Libretto makes VPN certified Pizza, using the guidelines set out by the Verace Pizza Napoletana Association and as set out by the Italian Government and the European Union. This strong statement is backed by our commitment to specifically selected high quality ingredients, made in a traditional manner with old world equipment. For example, the pizzas are made with San Marzano tomatoes, which come from the foot of Mount Vesuvius in Naples, with Fiore di Latte Mozzarella brought in fresh daily, and dough made from Italian double zero flour. These ingredients are baked quickly in 90 seconds in a 900 degree wood burning oven. Our oven was hand made in Naples by a 3rd generation pizza builder. We had a 5000 lbs oven shipped across the ocean because we believe that part of making a real Neapolitan Pizza is the charred and blistered crust which can only be achieved with this type of oven.

Well despite all that... the pizza I tried down there (don't know where it came from) was atrocious . I should ask the Millers again where we got that pizza from so when I come back I can avoid it like the plague. They also severely messed up my panzerotti and filled it with deep fryer oil.

Dude if you want good 'za next time you come to TO, I will hook you the fuck up. Fat crust, skinny crust, I'm fucking on a mission to try all the best pizza joints in the city, and since the GTA has the largest population of Italians in the world outside of Italy, there are A LOT. Three new ones just opened up, one of which specializes in that 1950s style, old school Italo-Canadian pepperoni and gooey mozza on a chubby crust, but with great quality ingredients, in an old school joint, at normal prices. I have got to check that place out asap!

Sounds like a plan, that last you mentioned sounds amazing. I used to run a halfway decent pizza place in Thunder Bay but the owners using it as a front to sell pills ruined the business.

Coincidentally, one of our oldest and best pizza joints, Pizza Gigi, was recently raided and shut down for allegedly $1million in drugs found on the premises. Sucks so bad, Gigi was relentlessly authentic, open and delivering till 4am, and on my way home from downtown. Booooooo! :(

I implore you to get out of the franchise noose and support your local mom and pop/independent businesses. I suspect you will be richly rewarded. :)

In Mississauga, I can only think of a couple. Both of which are dumps with greasy, undercooked food, and regularly attract our city's bantam contingency of crack fiends.

However, I do buy some phenomenal veal lasagna from this one Italian family noodle store.

Oddly enough, the building my pizza joint was in also where Bogart's Pizza used to be a decade ago. They where famous in town here for giving you weed and shrooms with your pizza if you had the extra cash.

They where not very clever about it ether, going as far to paint cannabis leaves on the walls of the kitchen. It is a wonder they did not get raided sooner.

I'm not gonna bother. I don't trust self professed ribbers that think it's wise to put mustard and pickles on a pulled pork sandwich.

Also, that fried chicken place looks awesome! I would put aside my healthy eating in a heartbeat to check that out! Please report back! :m:

I thought that pic didn't look like Sauga. I found this on wiki:
Quote:
In 2005 Abdul Haye, an Afghan immigrant since 1989 and a resident of Whitestone, Queens in New York City, received a trademark for his unwritten recipe for Kennedy Fried Chicken. He has been attempting to enforce the trademark against other restaurants with mixed results.[3]

"I'm declaring war against all the Afghans in New York who have stolen my name and my idea... Their poor-quality chicken is going to kill my reputation... I am the only real Kennedy!"[3]
—Abdul Haye, February 2011

...maybe less enthused now...
