Re: Adrian 'The Energizer' Bromley - Rest In Peace
I’m still in shock. This is indeed extremely sad news. I last saw Adrian on my birthday at The Woods of Ypres show. He was happy and looking forward to his own birthday on the 30th. My condolences to Adrian’s family and closest friends. Adrian was the first person I met from the BB and in the Toronto metal community. We met at a show in 2003 at the Kathedral. Like others have mentioned, Adrian seemed to know everyone and glady took it upon himself to introduce you to everybody in the venue. Over the years I had the good fortune to hang out and share a lot of laughs and good times with Adrian. Winter Blast and I as ‘outta towners’ often required a place to crash after shows and Adrian kindly hosted us several times at Chateau MPB. Rest in peace Adrian. You will be missed. ~FireFlower

I was just speaking from a point of view that he would create his own mosh pit in the direction of whereever the vinyl section of the merch area was at a metal festival.

I don't post much here but do visit on a regular basis and was quite shocked and saddened to see the notice of Adrian's passing. I never had the pleasure of meeting him in person but did enjoy his posts here and the camaraderie of the members of this board and the interaction. My condolences to all of you who knew him and his family at this sad and difficult time. May he rest in peace.

Re: Adrian 'The Energizer' Bromley - Rest In Peace
A fan's perspective and ramblings:
i never met him, but always wondered why i didnt. I mean, I didnt even really create an opportunity to talk to him.
i regret that. I began a conversation I never finished when I almost flew out to T.O. for DotE.
Like many lurkers, I think i (ir)religiously come here now, by instinct, and have been for the last 8 years or so, sometimes refreshing the pages multiple times per hour.
...and this is the saddest of those days by far. The word i've found so far is "heart-breaking". And I didn't know anything, really. Even indirectly he touched lives.
Through the changes of the boards, the four horsemen, people appearing and disappearing, post whoring, wanting paid, and whatever else, there was always so much music, so much variety, its like a place you always wanted to contribute to.
I remember the day I clued in that he was the same guy that worked on Chronicles of Chaos. I read them all. It was that zine which gave me a want to explore metal communities, and helped me find that awfully ugly full of ads EZBoard. I'm not in Toronto, or Ontario, I barely have many metal-brothers or sisters around here. And yet. The crazy internet tears those borders down. When he posted something exciting, we were excited, when he was down, we experienced that too, when the rest of the board was down and he kicked them back into place, we could feel that. When there was joke after joke, how could we not laugh? Even 4000 kms away with people you've never met or even spoken to.
This board makes me feel all kinds of voyeurism. Some days that is comfortable, other days its creepy because it's a one sided connection, i saw his posts and all of yours, but it doesnt matter who the fuck i am. i'm just a fan.
It's touching to see some old names/faces/avatars/personalities come out of lurking/obscurity to post here. 8 years is a long time to know someone, and yet, never know them at all.
I'm honoured to have learned about him, and about how someone like him can create such a response and reaction in people. Words used like brother and mentor and friend : that points heavily at the weight of the power he had on peoples lives.
I wish I had a great Adrian story to tell. I envy every one of you that did, and that do.

Re: Adrian 'The Energizer' Bromley - Rest In Peace
I can't believe this... I hardly even knew him and still nearly shed a tear upon reading a friend's RIP Adrian post on Facebook. Universally respected, loved, and admired by metalheads of Toronto and around the globe? Awesome family/friends, awesome record collection, awesome 'zine... sounds like a life lived to its fullest. Now is the time for us to learn from his exuberance, his outgoing, friendly nature and his way of going through life in such a positive manner. He will be missed, but as his multitude of friends and associates carry on his good will and attitude, he will not be forgotten. I can only say that I wish I'd known him better myself. Rest in peace, MPB!

I can't find the words right now...
Adrian was one of the few people on this board who I've been acquainted with that I would refer to as a friend... I have loads of good memories of him...
R.I.P. Adrian... you will be missed.

Re: Adrian 'The Energizer' Bromley - Rest In Peace
Wow, I can't believe this....I just came on the braveboard for the first time in many months yesterday to see what the guys from Rammer are doing these days, and today I see this post. Very sad to hear. Unfortunately I haven't seen Adrian in a couple years, since I haven't been living in Toronto, and I guess he wasn't either, but I always talked to him a lot at shows going back to 2000. I first started going to smaller shows like at the Kathedral in 2000 when I was 16, and although I knew various people at shows, I was never really in the 'scene', nor did I have many good friends who I would see outside of shows--99% of the time I went by myself. But since my 2nd or 3rd show back then, I always talked to Adrian when I saw him at a show, which was pretty often, so it was good to see a nice and familiar face like his there. A very nice and approachable person, and I think that's so important. It's good that he spent his life doing what he really wanted to be doing, not just listening to music, but many related things. He had no shortage of metal in his life so I think we can at least rejoice in that. I don't know much about funerals and and ceremonies and whatnot, but based on his love of vinyl, he should have some vinyl with him when he takes his leave. Have a good one, Adrian! Stay heavy!

Memorial Service For Adrian Bromley Announced Posted on Monday, December 08, 2008 at 20:27:58 EST
As reported earlier today, Adrian 'The Energizer' Bromley passed away in his sleep on December 7th, 2008 at the young age of 37. He had just celebrated his birthday on November 30th. An update from the Brave Board at BraveWords.com reads as follows:
"Adrian passed in his sleep, from complications due to pneumonia. A trust account will be set up in Adrian's name where if people want to make donations, they can. Donations will go towards the Canadian Cancer Society. A cause very close and dear to Adrian.
There will not be a funeral service nor a wake for Adrian. A memorial event will be planned for the near future, where people all can gather to share their memories of the life and their times with Adrian.
OK, we have confirmed a date for the memorial for Adrian, it will be on Saturday Janurary 17 at The Opera House, In Toronto. All are encouraged to attend. More details will be listed in the next couple of days, with an official announcement thread made as well.”
We were working with Adrian as our publicist. Kinky and Glace are close friends. All in the PileDriver camp mourn his passing.

Re: Adrian 'The Energizer' Bromley - Rest In Peace
I never realized how many pics I had of him on my various photobucket accounts. So many are from here on the board...so many you have all seen a zillion times. I decided then to post pics that I took of him or at least ones from my personal collection. I can't say it was easy to look through these, but I'd be lying if they didn't put a smile on my face as well. This sucks so much...I've never met anyone like Adrian. Anyone I know who has met him can say the same. Not only am I hurting for myself, but especially for those of you who were so very close to him. Renee, Protag, Noel...all of you guys...I know this is a huge loss for you...hell, it is a loss for music, journalism, humanity... I want to write about all the pranks he would pull on me...solo or with help from fellow braveboarders...I want to recant stories he has told me about his life experiences...I want to share so much of this right now and I just can't do it without wrecking myself. He was a true embassador of good will and kindness and we are all truly enriched to have known him, no matter to what extent, because it didn't take much to realize what he was about. Once you encountered him, you knew he was a gem. My pics are way too big, so I had to link them instead...plus I guess I can only do 8 url's at a time...argh! http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b94/j ... 001848.jpghttp://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b94/j ... 001914.jpghttp://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b94/j ... 001931.jpghttp://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b94/j ... 001932.jpghttp://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b94/j ... 001926.jpghttp://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b94/j ... 001925.jpghttp://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b94/j ... 001942.jpghttp://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b94/j ... 001958.jpg
