If that simian moron wasn't our president and we didn't run around bombing the wrong people, this might not happen...as much. It would still happen, but maybe not EVERY game.

Same here... Except I'm Canadian by birth, not choice. Sorry to all the other Canucks on the BB, you seem like a grand lot, but I really depise this country (as I've stated before). However, when (if it's at all possible) I leave here, I won't be heading south... Unless it's southwest to Australia.

I just want to say that at the Caps game I was at last week (vs the Canadiens), the singer did one of the best renditions of the Canadian anthem that I've heard in a long time. At least here in the US.
It wasn't cheered, but morons from here continue to yell "O" at that part of our anthem.

Off topic, but the scariest version of the Canadian anthem I heard was at a Seattle Thunderbirds game vs. either Kamloops or Kelowna back in 2000 or so...
The lady forgot the lyrics early on, so just kept repeating "Oh Canada" to the tune of the song....

At the Exhibition game USA vs. Sweden here in Victoria, I wouldnt say the USA got booed too much but more that the house went crazy when Sweden scored and just a few claps when USA scored.
I felt it was somewhat a case of rooting for the talented underdog team seeing as the USA is ranked #1 in this tourney.
Seeing as how close Van/Vic are to the US ( I can see the USA from my house roof ) and the traffic between us is huge, we obviously all get along and it comes down to sporting rivalries first and the politics just gives an excuse to boo louder, maybe throwing them off the game and allowing Canada to dominate the series.

That's ridiculous. Little kids playing hockey shouldn't have to be subjected to the prejudices of meathead adults. WTF is wrong with people?

I would have to agree, possibly for different reasons but agree nonetheless.
Canadians need to wake up and realize just what a hollow nation they live in.
The country has been in a slow steady decline since the end of the Second World War with April 20, 1968 being the most significant moment when the country truly started its downward spiral from which it has yet to recover.
It’s a shame Canadians are not more knowledgeable about their country’s history so they could better compare how truly great the country once was to what it has become. A shell of it’s former self.

Because some people are fucking idiots, really.
Yeah, the US government is fucked up. What some Canadians fail to realize is that not every American is in the government, and generally, Americans are good people just like people from anywhere else. The ONLY way I could see the Americans getting booed in Canada is if they happened to be playing a game against Canada, then it would make sense strictly on a fans-supporting-their-team basis.
I may hate the American government, but most American people I've met have been pretty damn cool.
So just like not all Americans are idiots like their government, most Canadians aren't idiots like those who booed the US team.
edit: and regardless of what team you're cheering for, if you boo ANY national anthem, go get fucked. Have some common courtesy/class.

One does not need an I.Q. above 55 in order to gain entry to a sporting event.

Right on, Exorcist.... I should have placed more emphasis on the fact that the USA was playing FINLAND.

Thanks man
Honestly, I get so fucking pissed off when other Canadians pull that "every American is st00pid" bullshit. Firstly, because of what I stated above. Secondly, because that statement ALWAYS is preceeded by them going on about how Americans generalize and are ignorant of anything outside of their country. Of course when you point out the irony of what they said, they just yell out "MOLSON CANADIAN IS THE BEST BEER EVER! GO LEAFS GO!", and fuck their cousins. It's the weirdest thing!

I know what you mean... I was watching TV earlier and one of those travel shows was on ( Travel, Travel w/Don McGowan) and he was in Normandy, France. One segment of the show (obviously) was on the Canadian war cemetery that is the resting place of nearly 2500 WWII soldiers, and all I could think was "this is no longer the country you guys fought for...".
I can only hope that the history to come proves their deaths were not in vain.

Again I have to agree with you, however, I fear that the last 30-40 years of Canadian history has already proved that what they fought for is lost.

I was kinda hoping that the past 30-40 years would be just a bad 'blip', but I agree with you that all hope is lost. Hell, if I didn't agree I wouldn't be much of a seperatist now, would I??? (And I'm not French either... I'm a Newfoundlander. ) Unfortunately, too many folks down here have become 'accustomed' to federal handouts and will continue to kiss Ottawa's ass until the day they realize that NL has been taken for a devastating ride. I don't want to be here when that happens, which I why I want to get the hell out of here. I wonder if my family's Motherland (UK) will take me back???
*filling out UK immigration form*
Question: Why do you wish to relocate to the UK???
Answer: 'Cuz chicks w/British accents are HAWT!!!

KG, let's be honest. EVERY province in Canada that isn't Ontario has been taken for a ride by the government.
Seperation from Canada isn't something I'd want to see happen, but I would LOVE to see Martin and company get a good, NL sized bootfuck from you guys. Provided that Jack Layton winds up in office, and not that cunt Harper.

I must say... It's nice to see that Canadians are talking about their own country for a change.
