Re: What are you up to right now as a musician?
Lots of free improv/experimental stuff like my latest release (in my sig), co-organizing the Toronto Improvisors Orchestra, curating at Somewhere There and generally performing more. I'm composing a music/theatre piece based on a Lovecraft story that I hope to have performed before the summer. I'm also learning Bach's second cello suite, Mompou's Suite Compostelana and a bunch of jazz arrangements of Xmas tunes.

Re: What are you up to right now as a musician?
I "sing" in three bands.... http://eyeswithoutafacehq.bandcamp.comhttp://ihatevices.bandcamp.comhttp://homolka.bandcamp.comAll three projects are heavy but completely different, and having to differentiate my style and performance for each one definitely keeps me on my toes. EWAF just released our second full-length, Vices is in pre-production for our first, and Homolka just put out a split with UK grind band Human Cull. My plan this year is to play as many out of town shows as possible.

Beating my head against the wall trying to find a decent singer who's not a total flake/diva. WTF Toronto, are there no professionals left in this city?

WTF Toronto, are there no professionals left in this city? Guess it depends on what type of musical style you are looking for.

Re: What are you up to right now as a musician?
Finally getting Profaner back up and running. Its been a rough year for us. The obvious one was the loss of Rab, who was not only our good friend but our label rep/manager/dude who did all the business. Not too long after that, the jam space we use ended up closing down. And then not too long after THAT, our guitar player called it quits, and we've been in limbo for months now. Things are finally on the upswing, however. We have found and are currently training a new axeman. We heard from the people who ran our old jam space, seems they have a new one at a new location up and running. So the wheels are finally turning again. Some of our youtube-able material: Signs of Nine, title track off our full length album http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooUerd_88OYLive clip from the last show we played back in March: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-e7qLA7o4kE&list=UUrpdoZfQW3nz4NHcoHEl78A&index=6

I bought a chrome slide for the acoustic guitar today. Just been fucking around with it for the past couple hours. Was sounding pretty awful when I first started.

SSDD really... still hacking away.
Writing bits and pieces of the next album, learning how to play the didgeridoo, and getting better at violin and keys, as well as trying to get a better understanding of music and acoustic theory... ultimately gearing up to trying to make a living teaching, doing session stuff, recording, mixing, etc.
Basically I'm on crack.

I make wretched sounds with it. I also ordered a tuner for my lap harp (it requires a special tuner... fucking horseshit but whatever it's 6 bucks) and I fully intend to start composing on it once it arrives.

Working on the orchestral/guitar interludes for a power metal album that's been in the works for 7 fucking years. Took some heavy Bear Mcrearry influence in the string department.
Any of the previously written tracks have been re-recorded so many fucking times in the past 7 years that I don't think they'll ever be complete. I keep updating them with new skills, better harmonies, etc.
I feel like Jari fucking Menopause, but 1/1000th as good lol.

Re: What are you up to right now as a musician?
Anyhoo... Still playing guitar in Gravheart (thrashy/deathy/Witchery-ness meets The Crown). We've been meandering our way towards our 2nd album, but we'll be picking up pace and getting back on track after the new year. http://graveheart.bandcamp.com/Also still playing drums in Crotalus (thrashy and metaly...older stuff is Slayer-ish, newer stuff is more aggressive and technical...like Exodus-meets-less-technical Darkane). Recording for our 3rd album is almost done, and our most recent happening was this here music video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LSuHHbEVWoAnd most recently, I joined up with Tony from Meliah Rage to play drums for his new project. I have yet to hear the singer, but the music has stuff that reminds me of Metal Church, King Diamond, Annihilator and even Alice Cooper. Debut album is almost complete and should be out next spring. Blabbermouth article from over the weekend: http://www.blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?m ... mID=183365
